I don't understand what OP is asking either, even with the upvoted response to your comment. What do Mississippi license plates look like?
I live in a different state, and we have the option to have either our state's motto on our plate, or the county that we live in. I chose the county that I live in. When I drive around, I see many others displaying the county that they live in as well. Is Mississippi's system similar to this? I don't understand why it would be a hassle on the part of the state to print different license plates for different people. They already do that anyway.... I don't get how that would be using excessive resources.
When I have to renew my vehicle registration, it is either done online, within kiosks at certain grocery stores, or at a government building within the county I live. It doesn't seem like a confusing or weird system at all to me. But again, I don't know how it works in Mississippi.
I mean I just never ended up subscribing to political communities, so I never see any political related things anyway. If you only subscribe to meme and lighthearted communities, you're not likely to run into that stuff. Your comparison of it being a "Nazi bar" doesn't work. I've never been someone who browsed the "all" category of Reddit, and I've not been inclined to do that here on Lemmy, either. So no, you often won't see that sort of thing unless you're browsing by all communities.
When choosing an instance, it is not necessarily overtly advertised as such. It's just one of the largest instances, so many "regular" people are obviously going to pick it. New users are not going to be intimately familiar with the elaborate politics of federated Lemmy servers upon first arrival. It would be a bit bizarre to expect them to be.
I agree with the one user who stated that modern phones are too goddamn big.
I've had Samsung's Z Flip5 for over a year now and I've been really enjoying it. Small form factor when folded that actually freaking fits in women's pockets. And when unfolded, I have a case with a ring that helps me hold it and reach higher up on the screen. Honestly, I would like if it was a bit smaller when opened, but it's a fun compromise.
It doesn't seem to fit in with what you want though, as it doesn't have a headphone jack and isn't going to be as durable as a regular phone. Still, it's fun and I like it!
I had never heard of this so I had to Google. It seems the advantages you are talking about don't all necessarily apply if your water heater is outside then, right? I mean, I guess it'll be a bit more energy efficient, but cooling and dehumidifying effects are only if the water heater is indoors, correct? There is not a system to do any sort of interior cooling for outdoor water heaters, no?
Forgive me if these are stupid questions. I hadn't heard about this type of water heater before. I live in a hot climate, but my water heater is in an outdoor storage closet.
Yeah this is my only issue with refurb electronics. Imo they are often a fantastic option because people are too scared to purchase something used. BUT the biggest problem is battery degradation. For that reason, I would actually avoid most refurbished phones, laptops, and tablets. That is...unless they are either relatively new release models (within about a year) or if the seller states the battery has been replaced.
Laptop batteries seem to vary wildly in price depending on the model. Some can be very cheap as the people responding to you say, but still others are very expensive like you say. Also, when most people sell a particular battery for $100, if you happen to find a seller from China that sells the same specced battery for only $20, the quality becomes a bit suspect. Battery safety is not something I'd really want to play with too much.
ChatGPT has had absolutely zero impact on my work or personal life. I do not have any useful case for it whatsoever. I have used it for goofs before. That's about it. I cannot see it as a positive or negative influence...as it has had zero influence. I do get annoyed that every company and their mother is peddling worthless AI shit that most people have no use case for.
Hard Mountain Dew is fucking disgusting. I like regular Mountain Dew, but the alcoholic ones are horrendous. I'm guessing it's because the alcoholic ones use Diet Mountain Dew which is the worst diet soft dunno on the planet. Dunno why they don't have a sugar option.
The problem is that ace people are so incredibly rare that you're not going to just stumble upon them in the wild. I have similar frustrations as the person you're responding to. I can never really have that kind of deep relationship with someone because I'm not compatible with 99.99% of people on the planet.
There are dating websites that are asexual focused, but that doesn't mean they are densely populated. I go back to these now and then and it's rather frustrating how few people exist on these websites. I have yet to match with someone who will respond to me, is in my desired age range (not 10+ years older or younger), and is within a day's driving distance from me.
Listen I like Linux, but every day usability with minimal tinkering isn't there. Apple stuff just works, and there's merit to that now.
Thank you. I've been saying this for so long. People like to act like Linux distros in 2024 are now plug and play without any tinkering. No, they still are absolutely not. Yes, they've gotten significantly better over the years...by many leaps and bounds honestly. But that are still absolutely nowhere near the level of making sense for a non-tech person unless you set it up and do the tinkering for them. And no, it still isn't good for games unless your library is all in Steam. Many of us don't use Steam for most of our games.
I don't even think sour candies are necessarily that popular anyway. Chocolate still seems to be the number one candy by far. That being said, people like sour candy because it's delicious. :)
Right?? I don't understand why every single person nowadays supposedly has autism and ADHD. If everyone has autism and/or ADHD now, then does anyone really have it?
Imo, it doesn't really make sense to turn what are normal human experiences suddenly into disorders now because it's trendy. If it significantly impairs functioning to the point of things like failing out of school or the inability to hold down a job, then it makes sense to discuss it. Otherwise, I don't get why it's so trendy to pathologize common experiences/traits.
Is there an alternative way that I can get the endorphins and elation despite not having the physical sensation? It has always been a goal of mine to feel that despite not being a human like the rest of you.
Weird! I'm on Android 14 and I can blast the volume as loud as I want without any sort of notification. All it does is the volume slider turns red when it goes beyond like 80% or something, but it doesn't say anything to me about it. I have a Samsung phone. My last phone was a Motorola phone and I don't recall it nagging me either.
