Or what are some films that are significantly better than the book they were adapted
One of my favourite books, High Fidelity. I think I am in the age range and demo it was written for, so much rings true. When I heard there was a film coming out I was so excited, and then I read it was being moved from London and re-set in Chicago, and my heart sank.
Boy was I wrong. John Cusack was great, Todd Louiso was histerical, and it was Jack Black's breakout performance. (I honestly am not sure he has been funnier since)
And the Chicago setting 100% worked, better than London would have
This has blown my brain. I have never considered doing the diagonal first.
But then, my entire life I mounted a bicycle from the left, right leg over first. It occurred to me I did this so tried to mount my bike from the opposite direction. After finally figuring out how to even move my left left over the bars, I then fell over.
So based purely on this experience, I shall continue to do forward, followed by diagonal.
I can't decide. I have used Infinity for years on Reddit. Been using connect and liftoff for Lemmy.
In some ways it feels so warm and familiar to be on Lemmy in infinity, but in some ways, I'm thinking, it's Lemmy, not Reddit, it shouldn't feel like Reddit.
thing is, with all you list (and sync) the key thing is there is CHOICE
Nobody is forcing anyone to use Sync. If you don't like the model it uses, then use something else that better fits what you want. People in this thread are acting like its compulsory to use sync.
BUT. what sync will do is bring people over from reddit. Sync for Reddit was hugely popular and there are tens of thousands of people that used Sync for years that had not shown any interest in Lemmy. Sync will bring some of those to this community which can only be a benefit to everyone.
Survivor was a massive disappointment for me. It was the game I bought with my PS5, and ended up quitting halfway through because of the bounty hunter bug.
Waited a month for that to be fixed, fired it up to continue, holomap completely vanished.
So it's back on the backlog again. Thank God the other game I bought with my PS5 (rift apart) was just great.
That's before we get into the navigation somehow being worse than fallen order. No minimap, no compass, and maps that are nigh on impossible to follow
Honestly I would be fine with EA never releasing another star wars game.
honestly, when reading comments like this i think maybe pre-emptive is a good idea.
Lemmyworld is forever going to be referred to as the instance full of pedos, transphobes and fascists that tried its hardest not to defederate an explicitly nazi instance while pulling this shit with a soft dirtbag left instance that spawned from the chapo podcast of all things.
Like, what a fucking reputation to give yourselves so early on.
you aren't paying for volume of content available, that would only make sense if you were subscribing directly to reddit or lemmy as you would with netflix, disney etc
revenue goes to the app dev, and sync for lemmy and sync for reddit have i would presume, identical development and maintenance costs.
your logic is like saying that fuel should be cheaper for a 1.4l mini than it is for a ferrari
That said, I do think £18.99 lifetime just to remove ads is a bit extreme, its certainly not affordable for me. That's more than a year of Ultra without the extra features. I think sweetspot for "pro" edition that has no ads certainly would have been sub £10, especially when im gonna be a large volume of users have dns that removes ads anyway and really the "pro" is just a "one time donation" kinda thing
many 14 year olds in the UK are two years away from finishing school.
Nothing wrong at all with them learning to turn up on time, get on with co-workers, budget their wages etc. Stand them in great stead for 2 years later when they are into the real world. 16 year old looking for work after leaving school stands a much better chance if they already have work experience
