  • Only on TV and radio. And in magazines and movies and at ball games, on buses and milk cartons and T-shirts and bananas and written on the sky. But not on my personal devices. No, sir-ee!

  • Are there certain features you've grown to rely on?

I use plaintext documents with markdown. There's a markdown editor for the web. Markor is an excellent Android app. Take your pick of a number of text editors with markdown.

  • Lightspeed fits today's active lifestyle. Whether you're on the job ... or having fun. Lightspeed briefs, style and comfort for the discriminating crotch.

  • I'd give LMDE a look. Debian under the hood, everything works, and really slick to boot.

  • Several Pixels are hitting EOL right now. The 4a received its last update in August. The 5 loses support in 2 days. The 4a 5G loses support next month.

  • Not everything we used to root our devices for needed root access... It was just a convenient way to accomplish it.

Shizuku does what it does through System APIs and ADB Shell. Because it's not relying on any sort of exploit but leveraging ADB existing APIs, it's unlikely that Google would block it.

I am am far from an expert, so if I get something wrong, I'm sure the sages of the internet will correct me with grace and understanding.

  • Toss in Kwame from Captain Planet and I'm in. The man taught me about reading, conservation, and warp theory.

  • I've been reluctant to give up my 4a because of the rear fingerprint sensor. Now that we've hit October, I'm trying to figure out what to do.

  • I don't like what you have to say... But I don't disagree with it either.

  • I came here to say that. They start in September, so we've got a little less than a year. Though, I do wonder how a true first contact would affect us.

  • Apple Rankings calls them "Coffee Grinds in a Leather Glove" and gives them a 25/100. They really are awful.

  • I appreciate that you included sections of the relevant privacy policies. I like your approach.

Please run what you write through spell check. You misspelled: extremely, business, advertisers, educated, and default. The word October could be capitalized, but as part of a hypothetical search query, it could be lower case on purpose.

Lastly, Qwant is struck through in your last sentence. It's unclear if you chose that formatting because you don't recommend it (as stated earlier) or for some other reason.

Keep writing! We need more of this!

  • Let's keep going down the rabbit hole! You can build your own using ESPHome.

  • I have a Pi 3 running Home Assistant. I also have two Pi Zeros that I have MP4 Museum installed.

I use MP4 Museum to run projected Halloween decorations mostly but it's great to have a little box that will take a video file from a thumbdrive and dump it out the HDMI port on boot.

  • I think this is an important difference. The are are several services that I use, not because they've been able to prove themselves in the long run, but rather because they're not Google.

  • One reason for deciding on which service(s) to pay for is which service do you want sticking around. I can get a wireguard VPN from a number of providers. I like the way Mullvad does things and so I choose to get my VPN from them. One could make the same argument for email from Proton or groupware from Kolab.

  • I use natural on the trackpad and traditional using a mouse.

  • The last release was in 2002. It's not limited to Gen X. As an older millennial, I leaned Lotus 1-2-3 and Lotus Word Pro before I was introduced to Microsoft's Suite.

  • It was all Jesus being created and not being co-eternal with the father.

The Klingons are lucky their gods did not come back after three days.
