  • Sorry, I don't know the answer. I think it's highly unlikely since encryption makes the data unreadable but I imagine it be possible to decrypt the data from inside the phone, backup it and then re-encrypt it after restoration. Still not that sure tho so you can search the net and see if it's doable .

  • I don't mean in any way to offend you, but you speak like someone that knows quite a lot about tech and might even work in the industry, yet your story feels like it's told by someone that lacks any of that knowledge and it's honestly very fascinating to read.

If i remember correctly, newpipe is completely open source and use an unofficial api to scrap youtube. Even if Google is scummy I don't think youtube can do what you're suspecting it of doing.

Do you suffer from paranoia or anything else ? Please check with a doctor.

  • I only watched his pathologic video because it was recommended by several other youtubers in their videos and it was good . I also tried watching his other contents but none was interesting to me. Anyway, he seems to be one of these YouTube essayists that make several hours long videos about a random subject. The videos are mostly based on his feelings towards that thing as it can be seen from his videos titles which are essentially : why "thing" is actually bad/mid/great. He has another serie called something like "a moderate response to " flat earthers/ anti-vaxers/etc".

He recently made a 4 hours video blaming another famous youtuber for plagiarism. ( at least, thats what people summerised it to me).

    Tldr : nonsense youtube drama.

  • Why ? What's wrong with using Latin letters ? Calling your child with the name of a character from a "current popular media" isn't new, which may includes foreign names or outright made up. For exemple : A lot of people called their children Daenerys based on the character from game of thrones or the Turkish name Eren from the character on attack on titans. Using a combo of scripts almost nobody can read is meaningless.

  • Servo and ladybird are our best hope to fight against Google monopoly. Considering they both new they can try emulating all the weird quirks of chrome so that compatibility with the net is maximal. Honestly, Mozilla being the only alternative to chrome is scary. Heck, Mozilla being an alternative for users didn't stop Google from implementing things to take control of the internet.

  • Penguinz0. His content was garbage when I discovered him so I just avoided him but one day I got recommended his old commercial parodies and it was pure gold. His videos about Kate cooking were also great too. Nowadays, he's a drama youtuber. He scroll Twitter, read about a random scandal, do the bare minimum research to not sound like a fool and then make a video about it.

  • I have like 4 gigs of flatpak updates I keep unchecking because at my horrible internet speed it would take the entire day if not more to download. Honestly, if you're right then this is a horrendous design flaw.

  • There was an app that dealt with desktop entry and auto-update but it hasn't bee updated since a few years already.

    no repo (= virus danger)

Can be remedied with an official store/ being distrubuted by the devs themselves instead of random people. Appimage isn't getting a tenth of the support flatpak is getting.

    no deduplication of libraries

Might worth it if you have dozens of very heavy apps but it's totally not the case if you only need a few simple programs.

  • That's why I think AppImage is the best. Despite needing to pack everything it needs it's always far more lightweight than flatpak. I'd rather download a 50mb appimage than several gigabytes of an entire OS libraries and then the updates requiring roughly the same size. That and I have a shitty internet
