  • The short answer is "democracy". If they win the election they're cleared. The other option would be the public service disqualifying an elected member of parliament.

    Its got flaws, no doubt, the news from the US this week is a great example. But in general it's seen as the least bad option.

  • I've been having the same problem. I'd love a drm free e-reader, but even if I found one finding drm free content is not easy.

    I'm just buying analog books now. Less convenient in some ways, but at least I know what I'm getting.

    Something like this would be inherently subjective, it's not a pure data question with a clear yes or no.

  • I don't know about Alberta, but in Ontario your pay is directly related to your seniority and that doesn't carry over between provinces. So you would be taking a pay cut if you moved provinces, maybe a big one if you've been at it awhile.
