I can access old.reddit.com with VPN. The new shitty layout will block you but there are browser extensions to automatically redirect. I'm never logged in since I deleted my accounts a few months ago.
Except for glue for the board and some 10mm steel balls (readily available from e.g. Amazon) you don't need anything.
There are (optional) fancy versions for the legs that require some M3 or M4 screws and some (also optional but fun) tiles that need short m3 screws and washers
