  • Omg are we the same person? I actively avoid bodegas, caus fuck that same person behind the register shit. Much rather go to Walmart, where corporate America has so thoroughly destroyed their workers’ soul that they barely acknowledge your existence.

  • Yeah… In practice, every time a company gets anything that even slightly resembles a captured market, they stop investing in quality and starting shafting consumers.

Make no mistake, that is Microsoft’s end game. And that’s why they’re buying Blizzard.

  • Republican voters. The Republican party has degraded to a point where their biggest selling point is “pwning the libz”.

If McCarthy survived this with Democratic help, he’d be labeled a Democrat stooge (i.e. someone who believes in cooperating with the libz, instead of pwning them).

Every comprise position he proposes after that would face internal Republican voter critique along the lines of: “is this the best deal he could get, or is he doing this to help the democrats?”

For years now, republicans have been selling the idea that working with democrats is bad or at best a necessary evil. Publicly asking for democratic cooperation goes against years of propoganda.

  • I don’t know who needs to hear this:
Unity sucks, but death threats are not okay.

If you really want to stop shit like this, vote in progressive legislators. So we can codify the fact that corporate actions influence more ppl than just the shareholders and their actions should reflect that.

Edit: thanks everyone for correcting me. I meant not okay.

  • If there’s one thing I hate, it’s ppl sayin something should have been done yesterday.

Guess what, if should have been done yesterday, we’ve missed the deadline, we’ve already failed and might as wel write off the project.

  • As much as I agree that decent public transport is significantly preferable to autonomous cars, this video is a bit of a straw man argument.

Self driving cars will never beat trains/busses on efficiency. But that’s not why people like them. The major selling point is the illusion we can sustainably keep living in spread out suburbs.

Trains will not stop at the doorstep of your mcMansion. Trains will not allow you to comfortably carry your biweekly Costco shopping. Trains will not provide you the luxury of traveling from point A to B without ever having to come in contact with the plebs.

Unfortunately, he kind of admits as much in the end of the video. Where says that self driving cars will entrench suburbia and will work in sparsely populated areas.

He’d have been better off focusing on the economics of self driving cars. E.g. how the vegas hyper loop is an insanely expensive money sink, unneeded musk subsidy, and just plain doesn’t work.

  • So an injured migrant (how did he get injured?) was on the Mexican side of the border. Was approached by a guy on a motorcycle. And the Texas guard decided to shoot the guy? Because, according to the Texas Guard, e was trying to harm the migrant?

So… Obviously made up story to justify what is still an illegal act.

These guys have abandoned all pretense of adhering to the rule of law.

  • The dude is right though. The most important part of being a programmer is designing an elegant solution. That requires talking the problem through, solliciting feedback, getting ideas… you meeting with ppl and talking to them.

The second most important part of being a programmer is realizing that you’re not doing this alone. Once again, you talking to colleagues to discuss what they can expect and when, likewise what you need and when.

Meetings are super important. Unless your a code monkey or if it’s office gossip or me having to spend an hour explaining why a job estimated to take 4 weeks will not be done next Friday. And no, “trying a little harder” or “realizing how important this to the client” isn’t going to change that.

  • Yeah… BRICS is going nowhere. They’re geographically dispersed, economically not integrated (nor are they moving towards that), and ideologically all over the place.

This entire endeavour is just a really expensive way of saying that there are countries in the global south don’t like the current western led world order.

  • Tbh, this is what I’m thinking. No way Prigozhin would just go back to Russia without an exit plan. Any sane person knows that accidental death is the only way this would end.

Why wait for Putin to kill you, if you could just do it yourself?

Alternatively, it would make sense if this is part of deal he made to call off the coup. Putin promises to fake kill him, Prigozhin promises to stay fake dead.
