I dunno, being a man, woman, or black person isn't political.
I agree, they should not be, but people still try and make them political.
Trans, non-binary, etc is
No. Absolutely not. Trans people and non-binary people are types of people who exist. Exactly the same as men, women, people of colour, and so forth. They are no more or less political than those other types of people. People still make them political, but that's exactly the same thing as with other groups.
My earlier analogy was about having a pro-life/pro-choice option forced on you, but I guess to make it more accurate it would be more like the game just telling you that you're pro-life as part of your character settings? Because it's not just putting the politics in the game, it's taking a strong side. Again, rightly or wrongly, I can see why some people would reset that in their escapism.
You are mistaken. There is no political opinion here. None is being asked for, and none is being assigned. The character creator having additional options is just allowing players to make trans or non-binary characters. This isn't asking you for a political opinion, it's simply adding options to create more types of characters.
Which is why the bigots are upset. Because they don't think those types of characters should be allowed to be made.
Not really a good example. A more apt example is if these people were getting angry that the character creator allowed a player to create a woman, or a person of colour. The game offering you a choice of pronouns is not asking you for a political opinion, it's literally just an option to create a type of character that these people don't think should exist.
And that's the crux of it, they aren't angry about pronouns, they're angry about trans and non-binary people becoming normalised.
Because it's not actually about the pronouns. These people aren't actually angry about pronouns.
They're angry about trans and non-binary people. They're angry that people are growing to accept these people, who they do not think should be accepted. They are angry that a group they don't think is normal, is being accepted as normal.
Was going to say, this sounds more like a prank from a friend who had access to the machine, than an actual hack. A malicious hacker isn't going to drop a "hibro.txt" on your desktop to mess with you. They aren't going to be interactively watching your session at all. They're going to silently keylog you for financial or identity details, or they're going to install ransomware.
i wish there was a paltform where everyone could have a respectable discussion without trolls or extremism…where people from every background could freely share their views and have a civil discussion
Such a place doesn't exist, and has never existed. In fact, it cannot exist. Because some groups and opinions are almost mutually exclusive, so you won't have them both in the same space. If you have a platform that tolerates hatespeech, the targets of that hatespeech will naturally leave.
If your goal is to encourage the broadest diversity of opinions, some moderation is always going to be necessary.
A lot of people think they want no moderation, but they really don't know what they're asking for. Setting aside illegal content, a lack of moderation just leads to deeply unpleasant places to be in. Which means the only people who stick around are the deeply unpleasant people.
And then there's the fact that every single conversation can simply be drowned out by someone posting unfathomable amounts of Shrek pornography in every thread. And what are you going to do? Censor them? Go on... Give in to the temptation to moderate.
I mean I agree we should look into the root causes. But practically that is a long-term, society-wide project. We don't even know what the root causes are, let alone how to address them. And moreover that project is not one a ride-share company can address.
So we sometimes have to take less-than-ideal, but more practical measures to address the current situation, right?
Okay. So make passports free to apply for and renew, and make the application process possible from every Post Office, including on Saturdays. And maybe then that will be a fair way to require voter ID.
But they have to realise that they are screwing themselves over too, right? They benefit from society's continued existence. In fact they probably have farther to fall if everything collapses. Their money is only good so long as everything continues to run at least somewhat smoothly. All the joys money can buy only exist so long as society exists to provide them. And even all their hoarding of resources to prepare for the worse would just leave them living in a bunker in paranoia.
So why do they seem so hellbent on driving us into that collapse? They could sacrifice literally nothing with respect to quality of life and make meaningful inroads into preventing collapse, which actually increases their quality of life, but they don't. It's insanity.
I just don't understand. At some point the greed became self-defeating, a point passed a long time ago, and yet still they demanded more and more and more. The ultra wealthy already have the best the world can offer, at some point there is nothing more to spend one's money on. Jeff Bezos even said exactly that, that he has no real idea what to spend all his wealth on. The endless greed now only serves to remove potential from their lives, through the destruction of the environment. Instead of enjoying wealth on a healthy Earth, they would seemingly rather suck it all dry and hide in a bunker.
I think a lot of straight cisgender men think that they understand the anxiety women and visibly LGBT+ people face in these sorts of situations. And maybe they understand it at some academic level. But they really don't truly grok it, and how it affects people's lives.
This. To anyone who thinks this is the Republicans being hypocritical: They know. They do not care. They are lying to your face. Pointing out the hypocrisy does literally nothing because they. Do. Not. Care.
Not proportionally though. If the service is less safe for women and non-binary people, then fewer of those people will make full use of the service. So either way, the male drivers probably aren't getting their custom. The safety features increase the size of the rider pool even as they might exclude some riders from some drivers. Women and non-binary drivers might take over the additional riders, but those drivers might have previously been driving men who are now left for male drivers to pick up. The overall impact to male drivers isn't as bad as just losing those opportunities.
"Gender ideology" is doing exactly that.
