  • I wish the EU would just ban Apple altogether and be done with it! No more sales of anything Apple.

Close all the stores, both local and online, stop selling accessories, stop selling macs, iPads, TV etc.

Let current device owners use it until it breaks and then recycle it.

End of story. That company is just poison. The apple logo suits them - it's the poisonous apple given to snow white!!

  • HP is in the extortion business now....

  • Having categories masks everything tidier and easier to find. If I'm looking for a Software licence key I saved, I search that category or Kik in there instead of looking through the entire database.

I don't like the Bitwarden model of dumping it all together and then having to search everything.

    I'm old fashioned.

I don't think 1Password can be self hosted.

Do you mean find duplicate passwords or duplicate items? Doing a search will bring up all items so you will see duplicate entries and can delete them.

If I'm not mistaken there is the Watchtower functionality which shows you reused passwords - websites where you've used the same password each time (duplicates) and then you can use 1Password to generate new ones.

  • Tbh I'm no longer watching F1 this year. I watched the qualification summary on YouTube and saw that it's going to be more of the same of what we had in 2023....Red Bull far ahead and everyone else fighting for 2nd and 3rd. ..

    Booooooooring!!!!!

Might as well give Max the title and let him stay home so we don't have to see him. And just let everyone else race for positions 2 - 10... .

  • As an IT Technician/Sysadmin who is responsible for ordering the laptop, my recommendation is DEFINITELY ASK because this is info the IT guy needs to know!

  • Glad to hear. It needs it. But it needs more than that. The functionality is quite basic.

I use 1Password now that it's on Linux and it's fantastic. Way, way more categories to choose from and beautiful design as well as fast sync make it a pleasure to use. I wouldn't use anything else

  • Yes indeed. I used to work in IT but due to a change in my life I'm doing something else now. Which means I only use Linux at home and only see Windows when I need to print. I keep Win10 in a VM, disconnected from the net, just to print. Which is rare.

But I remember well how crap Windows is, even on good hardware. The issues I had with Surface laptops at work was painful. I stopped ordering those for management because I'm the one who had to fix the issue they inevitably had. And that's MS' own hardware.

Even powerful graphics orientated HP machines would need regular rebooting to fix freezing issues on Win10.

Meanwhile the few Win7 and XP machines we had still in use, ran just fine, even though the hardware was 10+ years old ...

I'm on Linux Mint Debian Edition on a Mac Mini and it runs flawlessly.

Linux is really great, considering it's free of charge, and I wouldn't ever voluntarily run Windows again.

  • Google Messages is a mess. It NEVER falls back to SMS if you lose data connection, making it very unreliable.

As a result I've had several messages fail, with no notice unless I open the app and see the "failed" message.

As a result I disabled RCS and the app and installed QKSMS and only use SMS. It's 100% reliable. For chats I use WhatsApp.

Add to that they are now blocking rooted users WITHOUT TELLING THEM, and it's really a pile of steaming sh!t.

Suchai needs to go. Google as a whole is getting worse under his leadership.

Even Android has stagnated under him. It should be way better than it is but he doesn't inspire creativity and excitement in the staff. They are all playing it safe, with zero innovation.

  • What a joke! It's literally the LAST phone I'd ever consider buying. With that Tensor junk inside and a very basic UI, plus the actual design of the phone is quite ugly with that horrible camera bar.

Wonder how much Google paid for the result?

  • I run Linux Mint Debian Edition on my 2014 Mac Mini and it's works really well. Should be the same on the MacBook. Or regular Mint.

I've run Mint on my 2015 MacBook Pro and it worked very well.

Either way I recommend a slow release distro because if you use a rolling distro the WiFi will stop working with every kernel update .... It takes a few days before they update the Broadcom reverse driver to work with the newer kernel.

That's why I'm on Linux Mint Debian Edition - I don't need the latest kernel nor my WiFi breaking every other week. Linux Mint Debian Edition is stable and just works.

  • Batteries and their construction if at the moment a worse alternative. And involves slave labour.

At least C02 is already naturally occurring. Btw, humans and plants need C02 to live. Without it we die ...

  • Because I have enough common sense to know this tech is not ready. Neither are the energy grids. If we reach a point one day when the tech is ready and the grids can handle it, then I'll be open to it

  • I'm sure there is more that can be done. I've heard that Porsche have developed a cleaner fuel that can power petrol cars. I'm waiting so that what that is.

Unfortunately the car manufacturers typically have supported the petrol suppliers, which are big powerful entities, but if they stop doing that and really focus on clean fuel, I'm sure it can be achieved.

EV's at the moment are NOT good for the environment and create WAY more pollution than petrol cars in their manufacturing process. Making batteries produces WAY more pollution than what petrol cars with catalytic converters will ever make in a lifetime. This is a fact.

  • I hope so but I suspect it will only be the bigger one. I think they took a chance on the 6" but it didn't sell as well as hoped so I think they are changing strategy.

My reasoning is that the ZenFone 10 did not upgrade much compared to ZenFone 9 which means they didn't sell enough to justify spending a lot on the 10. If it sold well they would have added more features.

  • I don't have the answers but doesn't Linux have to boot off a ext4 formatted drive/partition? Not sure if it will work on an NTFS drive.

If it was me I'd just buy a good quality 128gb usb 3 drive dedicated to this task.

  • I agree. That's one of the reasons I have a Sony Xperia 10. It's has a 6" screen and is narrower than other phones making it very easy to hold and pocket.

Sadly the OEM's will tell you that when given the choice, customers always go for the bigger screen because they think they are getting more. Which is why we have this situation.

Asus have the ZenFone which is smaller but even they are making a bigger 6.7" version next.

  • Finally someone sees common sense. EV's simply do not make sense. Petrol is the way to go. Just make the engines cleaner and leaner.

For the majority of the planet, petrol is far more accessible and affordable than electricity.

I'm sticking with petrol no matter what they say
