  • That's a lot of words to say "I don't believe people who call the police and file police reports". Also, that's a lot of words to say "I feel that private companies shouldn't have the ability to moderate their platform, and they should be forced to host accused rapists, despite what their advertisers believe is a good look for their brand." Of course there will be an investigation. This isn't a coordinated attack on Brand. This is reporting the news. Was it a coordinated attack on Danny Masterson? A coordinated attack on Trump supporters in the days following Jan 6th? Assuming that the investigation will undoubtedly clear Brand's name is the naive cynicism that the article is referring to.

  • I wish conservatives would just say the quiet part out loud and stop insulting everyone's intelligence. Own your bigotry. Don't be a wuss. Oh wait. It generally has to do with pre-emptively distracting from obvious predelictions towards pedophilia. Nevermind then.

  • Cool! You know it's just going to be an AI upscale job, so there will still be the amazingly terrible brokenness that Oblivion offered. Tying major skills to a 1-10 level up system seems to make sense initially, until you wanted to be a potion making wizard, and then it's "OOPS! you made too many potions, now you're not strong enough to fight a rat". Also, Bethesda could have made the Skill Bonus you get on levelling up more balanced, as it forces you to literally not attack any more until levelling up. If you attack too much, you might level up your weapon ability (One Handed, 2 Handed, etc) beyond the points required to level up, in which case you just wasted extra Skill Bonus points by levelling up too much before sleeping. Exploration-wise though, Oblivion is a master class in open world design. It doesn't overstay its welcome and every corner of the map is a joy to visit.

  • At this point, the conservative wing of North America is caught up in its own "gotcha" moments where they think uncovering hypocrisy is how you win elections. The left seems sort of preoccupied with that as well. I say, fuck hypocrisy, all politicians are going to exhibit it at some point. Let's focus on dismantling bad policy and educating people about class consciousness.

  • Nuclear is a dirty word because we have 80 years of demonstrating its disastrously destructive tendencies, including in North America. Trinity tests irradiated and killed entire towns. Three Mile Island is like the 3rd largest nuclear disaster of all time. Fukushima/Chernobyl haven't quelled anyone's fears of meltdowns.

Now, is a meltdown ever likely to happen? No, of course not. But that doesn't mean it can't. The mining and processing of uranium/thorium is insanely bad for the environement, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was close to coal carbon emissions.

We have thousands of miles of coastline, thousands of miles of rivers, and many large lakes in Canada. Why couldn't we have a robust hydro network?

  • Timidity isn't the problem. The "left" only exists in online forums such as Lemmy. Truth be told, there's been such a disastrous amount of damage done to working class consciousness over the decades during the cold war that people think wanting universal healthcare is communist.
