  • I turned off voicemail years ago. Spam, hangups, long rambling calls with no useful details, long rambling calls for the wrong business. Our phone just plays a "Sorry we missed you" message, lists the hours and encourages them to send an email.

  • Alright, alright, alright!

  • There are definitely services that fuss if you use a password you've used before.

-Try to log in, password incorrect.

-Try to log in, password incorrect.

-Try to log in, password incorrect.

    -Weird, ok reset password.

-"Enter new password." Enter the password I've been typing the whole time. "Sorry, you can't use your old password."

    -DAMMIT!

I'm pretty convinced this happens because their password validation isn't responding quickly enough and it defaults to "password incorrect."

  • They wanted me to know I owe them $74.10. I received that letter instead a final bill confirming I canceled my account on June 13. I was waiting until I got my final bill to just pay them one final time and be done with them.

Long answer, the reason I only want to pay one final time is because it's an old MCI long distance account, Verizon bought them about 5 years ago and it was a shitshow and hasn't changed one bit. They even still have the same recording from 5 years ago saying they were bought by Verizon. I can't pay my bill or manage my account online, my particular account doesn't work with that for some arcane reason and they aren't doing new accounts. Talking to rep usually takes 15-30 minutes on hold, if their phone system doesn't hang up on me. I was able to auto-pay by credit card for years but then I got a new card and their system to accept a new credit card was broken for weeks and every time I called I had to wait on hold for 15-30 minutes only to be told it's still broken. They let you pay by card over the phone but then charge you a $5 fee to do that. Still better than writing a check, I hate checks. I tried my bank's billpay but MCI/Verizon didn't process the payments and sent me late notices, so I gave up on that after 2-3 months. So yeah they are a ridiculous company.

  • I don't visit the homepage or use my mobile client. But it still pops up in searches and often has answers I need, for now.

  • This was on a paper letter. They actually bothered to print no_reply@verizon.com on their paper letter, as a final "fuck you."

  • What if they find it? And try to sell it back to you?

  • Disney owns so many media companies, for any given movie pirate it's likely it was Disney content.

  • Probably not, they will just interpret/twist their holy writings to support what happened. Or if they can't think of anything it will just be a "God works in mysterious ways" explanation.

  • Not from the toilet, that gives you rads.

  • In my Android experience if you have an unpopular/old phone, years later many of the new batteries you buy aren't much good. That or the radio frequencies change and you need a new phone for that. But still 4-5 years on a phone should be doable.

  • I didn't know the USB port had a cover. I bought mine used but excellent condition, apparently other than the port cover. My S5 had a brief dip in a river and never charged again. :(

  • Also "Sensitive info", what is that? Fingerprints, social security number, and penis size?

  • As expected, they can't be trusted. And the more AI evolves, the less likely AI content will be detectable IMO.

  • I did get it working but it took a lot of Googling and config file/terminal work.

  • I get rid of Cortana every time it pops up. Last time I installed Windows I somehow enabled OneDrive even though I definitely did not want it. It wound up trying to back up my gigabytes of game save files and mods to the cloud.

  • TP-Link AC600. I didn't buy it with Linux in mind, but I assumed it was popular enough that it should work.

  • After seeing how MS is handling Starfield I don't think they need to acquire more big studios. First they took away Playstation support, now they are taking a big payout from AMD to be the official GPU of Starfield, even though AMD has a ~15% market share: https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/Steam-Hardware-Software-Survey-Welcome-to-Steam

And will Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 be any different?

IMO MS has one guy Phil Spencer that talks a good game, but the actions of MS are usually way different.

  • Third-person shooters suck. The character model gets in the way of seeing and I don't need to see the super tacticool costumes. And the more decent third-person shooters switch to first-person for aiming down the sights anyway.

Cards in video games suck. Unless it's simulating a real card game. Otherwise we don't need powerup cards and such, use some other mechanic. My level 89 death knight doesn't need to be pulling cards out of his pockets.

Motion blur, vignetting, depth of field, lens flare, none of these should be the default. Show me the game world clearly.
