They have changed the order of sprint weekend for 2024. No confirmation on if they will move parc ferme but seems more doable now with the main quali taking place after the sprint race
Think the biggest issue with sprint for me was the parc ferme happening after one practice session. I think they should try letting teams change the setup based on data gathered in the sprint
I think what makes it a recall is that the NHTSA points out a fault and requires the manufacturer to fix it. It just happens that Tesla has the ability to use OTA updates. So not sure there is a difference in severity just because a fix is software.
But it does raise the question for me if it’s a simple software fix why did Tesla wait for the NHTSA? Don’t they have tons of live diagnostic data from their cars?
Sadly they will probably win this as well. Some claim there could safety concerns and it isn’t certified or could damage their brand… time for people’s manufacturing of products? Hehe
It’s probably because they are hoping the purchaser is using a spreadsheet going “x cents per sheet” and this is rigged to jump to the top of that sort order
Think the quali is going to be rough for Mercedes with the temperatures in single digits. I think last year in Hungary they did the extra warm up laps so they might have to do that to get temp into tires but with the balance of turn to straights they might cool down anyway. In race they should get some of that back with a super low downforce setup, but I’m not too optimistic with how Brazil looked (I know that setup was wrong due to only one session but it left me traumatized hehe)
Overall I’m worried this race will feature a lot of crashing…
