The lawsuit is a lot cheaper for the times of Musk’s suit doesn’t have merit, though. If the outright called it what it definitely appeared to be, they’re exposed to that lawsuit and would likely have to pony up, at least in the form of a hefty settlement.
It would probably be hard, for sure, but NYT is publicly traded. Remember, this guy paid almost double what Twitter was worth and use it to purchase the president. He’s not above overpaying, and if the offer is high enough the NYT board could pressure the family enough. Obviously, all of this is hypothetical, but never underestimate the ability of a madman with virtually unlimited money.
My favorite is “lee” and “leeward.” Both have to do with something being down wind. The former is pronounced as it’s spelled, but the first syllable of the latter is pronounced “loo” or “lew.”
Of course, there’s also the Leeward Islands which are often (mis)pronounced as they’re spelled because most people don’t sail anymore!
I’m going to get downvoted for this, but I understand where they’re coming from on this. They can’t come out and call it that because to do so would risk a lawsuit that could effectively kill the newspaper. Seriously, Musk could purchase it, shutter it, and recoup his losses in no-bid contracts next week. Instead, he could sue them for defamation. He would likely win, or at least get a large settlement. That would ripple through the paper in the form of reduced coverage and possibly reduced staff.
Read what they wrote again. There’s a reason they described what he did so precisely. They know what they’re saying, and so do we. They have to be careful about how they say it, though.
I think of you offer anything that even smells like an ultimatum, Trump’s going to respond with tariffs. For some reason, he’s behaving like a rabid dog backed into a corner, and he’s lashing out at any and every perceived threat.
Rather, I think Europe should intend on proceeding without the US. Trump said it himself, “We’re out.” Take him at his word, and act accordingly. He will either see the light, or he won’t.
European countries can attempt to continue relations with the US, separate from Ukraine, unless Trump wants to make it about Ukraine. If he does, it should be explained that Ukraine’s not on the table, the US has stated their position (they’re out), and Europe is respecting that.
B/c if he can make the US like Russia, he can achieve his obvious goal of becoming the world's first trillionaire w/in the next 3.5 years. At that point, he will probably just become a shadow king... I mean more-so that he already is.
FWIW, I think it's funny that the macOS dictionary doesn't recognize "trillionaire" as a legit word. Of course, it shouldn't be, but we all know it's inevitable.
Italy needs to understand that thinking you can reason with Trump makes Europe weaker.
In fact, this works with all countries. He’s a literal baby. He doesn’t understand or want to hear your reasoning because he knows he’s right. As soon as everybody understands that, the quicker they can get to the task of isolating the US as much as possible.
He’s made noise about NATO, but… he makes a lot of noise. He also, to a small extent had a point at one time about nations committing the agreed upon percentages of their budgets to defense. Regardless, today’s actions paint a pretty clear picture for Europe and the rest of the world.
So wait, it’s 69nice for 1 pic, 100 for 3, & 1000 for 5? What if I donate 200?
