  • I work as a valet at a car dealership, and backing into spots makes it easier for people to just get in the vehicle and drive. The thing I find funny is that the sales team can't park worth a shit. They park crooked, can't back into spots, and they still have a sense of superiority when it comes to anything related to the operation of vehicles.

  • What boiled down to was Rosemary was a woman who wouldn't fall in line. From what I remember reading she was outspoken and didn't want to conform to the role her family wanted. So, they started saying she was depressed and had her lobotomized and institutionalized to keep her from being in the public. It's a very sad story.

  • Imagine how many civilians were on the Death Star. Do you really think the maintenance personnel were Stormtroopers? Or the accountants who had to figure out how many credits the private contractors needed to receive? The rebels killed more innocent people than the empire did. Sure, the empire blew up a planet, but the untold amount of damage that the rebels caused to people who were just doing what they could to make a living.

Look what happened after Palpatine was removed. Slavery became more rampant, the rich began controlling more planets, and there was no government to fill the void that was left. The empire held everything together, they got rid of those hypocrites on Coruscant, and brought about a cohesive government that focused on bringing together all planets and putting an end to the trade wars. To sum up: the empire did nothing wrong.

  • But that would mean questioning the authority of the government and providing verifiable facts. The regime we currently have doesn't want the betterment of society. They want mindless puppets who will go along with whatever is presented. Historically, people who question authoritative policies are labeled as traitors and enemies of the state, and are silenced so that the poison they spout can't spread. Fact-checking is now seen as personal attacks and are met with imprisonment and are downplayed, if covered at all.

  • Nah, given what we know about Drumpf and his cohorts, Slaanesh is the one being worshipped. Tzeench likes change, but the debauchery and depravity that is currently happening with this administration fits more.

Khorne was G.W., Nurgle was the first trump term, Slaanesh is the current one, Tzeench will probably be the redeeming god. The Materium can only handle so much.

  • There are different types of users. Those who want something to work out of the box and those who like to put in the work to make the os into something personal. Usually, at least with the people I've come across, if you give them something the "works" but if they can tinker and make it better they'd learn. Now, not everybody is like that. Some just want to browse the Internet and play games. Flatpak, while not perfect, is a solution to a problem. Not everybody wants to adjust config files and/or configure wine bottles for every game.

As for your comment about drobbins... I can't argue. The greatest thing about Linux is the freedom to use what ever distro works for your needs. If switching from one because it doesn't do what you want, by all means, switch. But, if you are more computer literate and like to learn about how the os actually works; it doesn't matter which distro, you can figure out how to fix the problem and contribute to the community so others can fix it too.

  • Ah, typical Arch user response. "Everything is bloat. Stop having fun." If it works for somebody else, let them. I get where you're coming from, needlessly adding things because you can, leads to enshittification. But, trying new ways of doing things is the whole point. If it works and the majority of people use it then it succeeded. Bloat or not, if it gets new users to switch then it's a net positive. Plus, Gentoo>Arch. If you don't use custom flags and debloat the kernel you're argument is invalid.
