I think it's good that you gave it a name, it's the first step towards acknowledging that it's not rational thought and can be ignored safely. There's definitely nothing wrong with you in the sense that you're not crazy, but it sounds like you might have a lot of trauma and CBT should help. But it's a long process and sometimes its two steps forward, one step back. Just stick with it and see if it improves.

I'm not at all a professional and you don't have to listen to my advice, but my wife has had a similar issue and she called hers a name too. It helped her a lot over the years to realize how she could turn that voice down. What really helped her though was to cut off her family, as they were the ones that gave her this voice after all. She had a lot of trauma related to family.

Hope that helps, or at least makes you feel better about it. This voice is not shameful. You're just human and coping with life.

I always liked Singh as a person, but I feel like NDP needs some change. They are a party focused on throwing shade on other parties. They need their own identity.

While I agree that change is necessary, I feel like NDP as a whole needs to change strategy. It's like every single promise they make is about throwing shade on another party, or saying they will fix something liberals did, but rarely any actual constructive or original ideas. They need to come up with their own identity instead of basing it on the opposite of another.

I've heard smaller, older drives are actually more reliable in the long run. USB 2.0 especially because of the lower speed causes less heat

I had an issue recently where my usb drive was "disconnecting" which triggered unraid to give read errors and then panicking. I had checked though and it wasn't being regularly read or written to but still caused my whole server to crash. Changing usb drive has since fixed it, for now 😄

I use Unraid and I'm loving it. Super stable, easy to manage, set up dockers, let's me pool my hard drives and set up parity. Highly recommend. Only thing that I've had a hard time with is finding a stable flash drive - you'd be surprised how many start to fail when used 24/7

Ironically, from what I can see, the younger generation understands even less about computers. It's like everything is so simple to use (smartphones, consoles, tablet) that they no longer need to understand the technology behind it.

Makes more sense if you reverse it: Toxic Redditors tend to be politically engaged. It's not the politics that makes them toxic it's because they are toxic that they engage with politics so much. Most people who are informed with politics don't necessarily engage. Of course there are people who do who aren't toxic but the loudest voices usually are abrasive people.

I think it's the same as any other platform. Right now the content in small communities is limited, but over time once there is a sizable amount of content that newcomers can get referred from or go through, Lemmy as a whole will get more traction. Since the Reddit exodus happened I definitely feel like Lemmy has grown a lot and I'm here for the long run.

I really recommend nativewind to solve pretty much every gripe I have with styling react native, if you still want to give it a chance. Expo for instant cross platform updates by just publishing updated JavaScript (no more publishing updatdes in app store and play store!) Also, yup and Formik for form validation and react query for API calls. With these minimal libraries react native becomes a beast.

It's very easy to compare this to The Prohibition but the reality is alcohol is much more popular than tobacco. For someone who doesn't drink, understanding the appeal of drinking in a social setting is way easier. With this law I don't think there is a need for a black market of tobacco like there was with alcohol as it will still be available to purchase, just more controlled. The effect will be a reduction in exposure in younger generations that simply won't find the need to start smoking. This works and in my province of Quebec since laws have been getting stricter the only people that still smoke are poor or raised by heavy smoker parents.

That sounds very hard, for my part most of my thinking revolves around imagining objects, even when they're metaphores like trees when coding and such. You have all my sympathy as well, hopefully you can find ways to work around it and figure out solutions.

I don't have aphantasia but I have ADD. It causes me so many problems in my day to day life and in my relationships. It's one of those things that people think that either I am too lazy to "just do it" or "just make an effort to remember" or that I am mentally challenged If I try to explain it. Or worse, people think they have it too because they have all the symptoms some of the time. For me it's not a woopsie daisy kind of forgetfulness, it's every. Single. Time. All. The. Time. So I don't have aphantasia but I kind of understand the struggle, of not being neurotypical. I am very curious about what it means to have aphantasia, would you care to explain what it's like?

There is no concept of personal "algorithmic" feed here unless he subscribed to a bunch of hentai communities. I agree that when browsing on Everything sorted by New, there is a LOT of hentai. That includes AI generated hentai that seems popular here, probably because it is a legal gray zone.
