  • At home? If you had an encyclopedia you did that. You may also only have some of an encyclopedia, because they would randomly discount some but not others, or you'd get two random free with an order of one book, etc.

For school and such, you went to the library to use their encyclopedias and other reference materials.

Later on, encarta and other such things on your PC, and maybe some random scientist hosting a page on their subject at their college/university.

  • Hey now, cmon.

The illegitimate reasons are way more fun because you can just make crap up!

But on a serious note, I hope the plans for Jan go smoothly. We are planning our exit a bit more long term, targeting before my daughter is of an age that would be a concern. Also don't have dual citizenship so this whole business is going to take a bit while I get an employer set up to sponsor me....

  • Ive been a Debian user for more years than I want to think about. Its what I use the most, more so if derivatives are included. Even more if you count all the Debian VMs and LXCs.

I'd still recommend LMDE for new users. My comfort is not the same as new user comfort.

  • Maybe, but they also keep adding intermediate levels it seems like.

I dont work there just to mention, I just have to work with them (and many other similar companies). I keep seeing new titles over the years. Could have already been there of course, but some people seem to be doing the same job with a new title and no other changes.

  • No no, you show her pictures of nothing and describe them as unknowns and concerning.

Then she calls them chemtrails and Jewish space lasers. And then release the images at higher resolutions, so everyone can see its a hay bale and a rock em sock em robot or whatever.

  • Yup, and I think it may be even more of a gap now, there are a few other titles up to even MD at this point (if my rough count is accurate), which still has a few levels to go to the c suite.

He's nothing in the hierarchy, I doubt he'd be there by next week.

  • Which also means its just bad press to have their name associated with him, and its unlikely they will have the slightest concern about terminating his employment over this - other than using it to say "We won't tolerate this".
