  • I’ve at least been never using cup lids or straws and never taking drink carriers when [they're] offered (what a massive waste of cardboard!).

    1. lids and straws are absolutely insignificant against the whole.
    2. cardboard drink carriers use a rougher kind of cardboard without dyes or wax or plastic, and it's on the end of the spectrum with the least impact to the environment.

    ...the bag and wrapper.

You may have picked a class of restaurant that produces the most hard-to-biodegrade waste, and I'm not sure it's proper to paint an entire industry based on its worst members. It's like the sub-prime mortgage crisis but for restaurant and waste.

    “cook at home!”

I'm not sure you're comparing two values with the same magnitude.

I wonder if this is just something you notice as you get older.

Your writing suggests a member of a cohort that isn't even close to getting 'older'. As an American Millennial, in a country with a rapidly-declining life expectancy, growing old may not be a valid concern.

  • Spare time flows around how busy I am, as probably expected. Lately, not so much time is spare. But soon, maybe.

I'll rock out some agario when I get something accomplished, just as a reward. But that's a 5 minute thing and then I'm off again.

The current project will be replaced by some wow or zero-k when it finishes, and I'll seriously waste some spare time then.

  • I support ads.

Oh, calm down. I don't support the ad level of Facebook, nor the targeted ads, nor the algorithm.

And we, as users, get to decide when too many ads are too many, with our feet.

  • No. Their reward for having users is that they're in control. Expecting users to then pay them for that control is fucking stupid,

You DO realize that not everyone works to attain power over other people, right?

but I don't expect most people to realize it.

The reason people don't realize that site owners' reward for forking over half a salary in hosting costs for some nebulous power to hold other people in their clutching fists and cackle maniacally is because that's not the motivator here.

I look forward to when you can see that.

  • Yeah. I'm brutal in the interview. I'll let them know they are a finalist, but that I can ultimately only choose one employer for the daytime role.

But I want to weed out the egotists and 'family' shops so everyone understands. I'll connect stand-by, OT and hybrid work rules to a higher wage given more demand and bad architecture, and ask them to justify de-prioritizing reliability and proper architecture with band-aids. And we'll talk about the cost of living around the mandated office location and how 4x a 2/2 rent compares to their entry wage.

Sometimes, though, I'll wordsmith it a bit to get the answers and then only review their answers later in the competition before confirming that their position as a candidate for my next employer has ended.

  • grants more freedom to the individuals to govern

    I like how

            hillbilly + self-govern = doctors quitting

during COVID. We're gonna be decades getting back to 10 years ago, but it's good to know what label to assign to hayseed epidemiology.

  • no matter how bad the stuff the Republicans do, it’s the democrats fault?

    1. people who don't understand cause and effect
    2. people who don't understand powerless organizations can only make noise and wait for the chance to steer america differently
    3. people who don't understand that a powerless centre and left is how America seems to have voted
    4. people who voted for Stein and need someone else to be the villian, here
    5. people who want to look good in home-room by showing their pimply peers their comments
    6. people upset that others haven't rescued them when here they were liking AND subscribing for justice

    What'd I miss?

  • going to be very disappointed

What's that look like? We don't vote Red* because we like all the policies, but because the only alternative capable of pulling even a minority would be Trump levels of disastrous for us all.

So, would "disappointment" just be a harder grimace while continuing to vote to block the blue*?

*Note that in my country the blues are like Republicans and reds are the business-friendly investment/consolidated socialist-adjacents at centre of our spectrum.
