  • You've just added like 10kg of carrying requirements to someone who likely has all their worldly possessions on their back.

And that's not even counting being forced to use gas for food instead of saving it for warmth on a freezing cold night.

  • People shouldn't downvote you, it's an educational experience.

    Edit: Nah, fuck this guy.

People should be able to buy what they need, not be at the whims of what a capitalist entity dumps in a food bank.

Not everyone has the ability to store, prepare or even cook vegetables. Due to lack of utensils, food storage or even something to heat with. For many, vegetables would just be a liability and force you to choose between other necessities as you battle limited carrying capacity.

  • You usually need to trigger a total rebuild to make it part of the same pool, but you could always make it separate vdevs.

The best route would be to start with the number of drives you want at least, and upgrade them via replacement as you go.

  • I work with someone who does 9-5 in the next state, a messily -4 hours away.

They get to work when I have lunch, when I'm waiting on something from them in the afternoon they're just dealing with morning shit. When their system crashes at 4:50 in the afternoon as usual I'm making dinner.

So does this colleague suddenly have to work 9-5 in +0 time. Or do they keep working real 9-5?

Worst of all, he sees a bit of daylight on the sunrise commute home. Yet I as a +10 would never see the sun.

How do you propose any of this work?

  • I wouldn't want to associate with an app that's ripping off YouTube when you're an app trying to make a better YouTube.

But also, this is open source. Who are you to say that funding an effort should go to one place and not another? I think the people who actually put effort into Peertube are best place to determine what's good for the project.

  • I think you need to take the tin foil hat off mate.

IPv4 in many places has RAN OUT. No more, zilch.

Most people can get a fully functioning CGNAT address and surf the IPv4 web just fine.

Most VPS providers will give you IPv4 and IPv6 just fine.

So really the only issue is for the 10-20% of people who need to host an online service, security camera or online game system that doesn't have a server or rendezvous service.

  • It'll almost certainly never work. You'd need to write high level software that can interpret pictures on any display manager, and even then Linux would never do it.

Would literally just speed up the adoption of RISC.

Or it'll more likely turn me off computer usage all together, and I'll go live in the woods.

  • Because they're not some parasitic company that needs to buy up and incentivise games to come to your platform.

Releasing on steam deck will bring more sales. I don't even own a steam deck and will only buy steam deck titles myself.
