  • I say etsy because I think I heard some Linux YouTubers call it that back in the day and it just stuck

  • I thought it was just "sequel"? Like that was the official pronunciation? Or is there not an accepted "official" pronunciation?

  • I have also always said eks-rand-ur. Not heard eks-R-and-R

  • Zush rhymes with kush in my head. But out loud I say the letters because I think zush probably isn't how you're supposed to say it

Soo-dough (dough like the stuff you knead)

    Es-es-aych

Oh also, I've found myself pronouncing the normal English word "gnome" as "guh nome" now because that's how the DE is pronounced lol

  • The purpose of hiding the transaction would be to make it so that Mullvad couldn't tie the transaction (or your identity) to your account even if they wanted to. I know they say they don't log that data and I believe them, but they physically could if they wanted to, as opposed to paying in a private way, which Mullvad encourages anyway.

Of course, this then depends on what you'll do with your VPN. If you're using it to log into anything, unless that account is completely anonymised, the Mullvad servers could tie you to your account if they wanted to track you. Same goes for if you connect from your home network as opposed to eg public wifi. But there definitely exist threat models and use cases where what you're doing on that VPN wouldn't otherwise be tie-able to your real identity and therefore wanting to guarantee your VPN provider can't know who you are may be something you're interested in.

And some people just like anonymity for the sake of it 🤷‍♀️

  • Sriacha is what I normally put on fries. I also like the suggestion of curry sauce.

  • I stopped using those hacked spotify apps as I had to hunt down a fresh new apk every time there was an update and I just couldn't be bothered. I just dont use Spotify anymore at all. Do you have a good solution to this or are you doing the same?

  • What I do personally is get any music I want from soulseek and then sync my music directory across devices with syncthing. Although I'm planning on renting a vps to put my music on at some point as it's taking up quite a lot of my phone storage now.

On desktop I like to use mpd with ncmpcpp. On Android(/GrapheneOS) I'm using Metro as my music player.

  • Making up a guy to be mad at. Meanwhile the US is a bastion of privacy of course

  • Glad it at least seems easy to circumvent with a VPN

  • OP never said they were a man. Maybe it's a no-hetero handie.

  • I think part of different distros having their own package managers is that they have their own packages. Different distros may have different preferences as to where to install things, and obviously in terms of the actual software distributed, on eg a systemd distro you want software with systemd support/that doesn't depend on another init system. On a musl distro you want musl software. Etc. It's just easier if you have your own package format and discourages people from installing packages meant for a different distro.

  • Jerk your buddy off for him since he can't do that right now

  • Is there any real privacy concern from using Mozilla's sync server?

  • Wayback Machine and also archive.is's addons. I archive webpages frequently so they're super helpful. And if a webpage has been taken down you can easily go to an archived version with the Wayback addon.

Also, Vimium C. Not for everyone and definitely down to personal preference rather than "I recommend this to everyone", but I'd struggle to browse the web comfortably without it.

  • I don't use them. Web banking works completely fine for me. Back when I did use them, though, I always used them on privacy ROMs/GOS specifically. Went through 4 different banks and all their apps worked fine for me on GrapheneOS. No Google Play services either.

  • I've seen people accusing her of being a trans woman before, which obviously she has always responded to with transphobia and denial. I see no reason to believe her to be trans unless you have evidence

  • Is there an option to expand the vertical tabs so that they say the page title?

  • Yes if you get a court order for data you don't hold, you don't have to provide data you don't have access to. I wasn't expecting that Mullvad would have any useful data to give, I just wanted to read their response/commentary is all
