  • Dark Reader browser extension or just a userstyle. For me, Dark Reader works very well for sourcehut.

  • Something funded by the government but ran by a public org would be ideal.

    "the government" which government?

I don't want software beholden to any state interests. I see donationware as the way to go; or if donations can't sustain server costs, donations for sustaining development, and then a public flagship instance which people can pay to use, or self-host for their own server costs.

  • Same here, a certain printer of mine just did not work with my Windows install whatsoever but works fine with CUPS lol

  • The main thing base Arch doesn't install is a bootloader and graphical environment. I think most of the time installing a DE also installs the various tools that may be missing from a fresh Arch install.

In any case, I've never had trouble printing on Arch or Arch derivatives. Try following the Arch wiki article on CUPS. So long as you install CUPS I really don't see what printer problems could be attributed to Arch rather than problems with your printer and CUPS on Linux

  • I find it works fine for most websites and I just disable per site if DR has made a website unreadable

  • I think developers can upload their own addons for Android now. Or at least I saw quite a wide range of addons available when I went looking for some.

  • Librewolf has Mozilla sync, otherwise you could try using a third party syncing tool to sync your librewolf profile directory?

  • I like seeing instances where people have used "she" as the generic pronoun.

  • Ah, but mistakes could detract from disinformation if it's mistakenly correct!

  • Personally I'm fine with 8as' specs and don't need any of the extra features of the Pixel 8 so I'd prefer to save the money and get an 8a. Plus 8as are supported for longer. Nothing wrong with getting an 8 instead if that's what you want though

  • Ah yeah, I've heard that offices are rolling out a new role of office cumdump. Glad to hear from someone already in the role

  • A contactless card barely takes up any space. It's not particularly easier to lose either. I've never lost my card; I just keep it in my wallet, in my pocket, just like my phone is in my pocket.

  • Enjoy! For future reference I'd recommend just getting the latest Pixel as you'll get the longest software support. E.g. a Pixel 8a is supported till May 2031, which is plenty of time to get a lot of usage out of your phone.

  • Agree about the difficulty uploading. I tried to share torrents on a few sites for a video game (which was no longer possible to buy or download legitimately anyway) and some books I'd scanned but got rejected 🤷‍♀️ I understand they have to maintain a quality of uploads and uploaders but it would be nice if they could stay away malware while still making the barrier to entry for sharing your own benign torrents low.

  • Most of my files are different across machines because of different themes etc. The only dotfiles I have synced across machines are my .zshrc, .gitconfig, .ideavimrc (not my actual vimrc because it has some machine-specific theming), and .p10k.zsh. I have them all in a folder synced with syncthing and then I symlink ~/.zshrc to e.g. ~/dotfiles/.zshrc.

  • No that's the lingo the professionals use these days

  • I have a few playlists that are accompaniments to particular stories/pieces of media. Basically playlists with a narrative they follow. Those are somewhat easy to make, because then I just add any song that makes me think of the story and then I sort the songs into chronological order of which part of the narrative I feel they apply to. Then I have a playlist for political music, so I guess that'd be a playlist by topic.

Normally when I listen to music on Spotify I just shuffle my liked songs though.

  • I say etsy because I think I heard some Linux YouTubers call it that back in the day and it just stuck

  • I thought it was just "sequel"? Like that was the official pronunciation? Or is there not an accepted "official" pronunciation?
