How would you describe this then? She had an abortion well past the pre-roe cutoff of 20 weeks, which is where it starts to become possible for a fetus to survive outside the womb with substantial medical help. No where has it been mentioned that there may have been a medical reason for the abortion.

To be clear, I’m pro-choice. However, there does come a point in a pregnancy where it becomes morally wrong to terminate if there is no danger to either the mother or the fetus, or the fetus is unviable. Neither of those situations were present here, and she was “well past 20 weeks”, though it’s not listed just how far past she was. So what would you suggest would be the proper terminology here?

Edit: according to CNN, she was around 28 weeks, or 7 months pregnant.

I never thought of Murderbot as a her, either. Possibly this is because I listened to All Systems Red as an audiobook, and the narrator was male, but even without that, it just seems a little more masculine to me. (It? Seems weird to call it an it. Maybe a they instead)

This headline is a bit misleading. She didn’t just help her daughter have an abortion, she helped her have a late-term abortion, and then burnt & buried the remains.

I think this largely depends on what region you live in. In many parts, it’s still very common, while others it’s more limited to filling out forms.

I’ve been trying to follow this story, but I’ve got some questions.

How does the friend fit in to this story? Why were Franke’s kids left with her long enough for her to be starving them?

Where was the dad? Why isn’t he being charged with abuse? Or at least neglect, if he didn’t have custody? How could he have not known his kids were being treated poorly?

Why did cps take so long to respond? Neighbors and family members had made numerous reports over a very long period of time, but nothing happened. Why were so many reports blatantly ignored?

It’s longer than I’d expect, but it’s what it should be, so it’s refreshing that a judge somewhere is taking rape seriously.

This is also the Canadian political cycle, it seems.
