  • Being a support person, if I was rich enough to frivolously buy systems, I'd have at least one of each as a reference system. Yes, I know, vms, but that's for saving money/space. Especially MAC I'd have some hardware too. Definitely not a main system though. I currently have a broken Mac and a cheap chromebook for that reason, though due to being broken the Mac is rather useless now. When it worked I often used it to help test/troubleshooting customer stuff.

  • I don't follow archeology directly, but every couple months I listen to the Unearthed! episodes of Stuff You Missed in History class, which goes over the prior quarter's archeological news. A whole section is dedicated to reciprocations, because there are tons of complaints. UK museums still refusing to send back stuff stolen from other lands, items found to have been illegally taken, etc.

So it's more if nobody the people who run the place cares about complains.

  • That special milk

    Jump
  • Testicles make more sense because it's easy to acquire, you just butcher the animal. Same with blood. Milk is also produced regularly with a little more work. Semen requires ejaculation AFAIK, which feels both much harder and much weirder to perform.

  • Most Christian denominations do believe that to some extent, though some (including my example) view them as strictly different beings, with only 1 true God. They view Jesus as next in the hierarchy but still below capital G God, and view the Holy Spirit as just a tool, like say The Force.

  • I buy THC drinks online from 3Chi. I haven't had an urge to try anything harder (in fact, I'm a bit scared of anything that might affect my heart (aside from booze becaus3 we all do at least one very stupid thing), and the only thing I do want to try but only with a good support group around is shrooms).

  • It took me well into my 30s to walk away from religion. Especially in an isolated environment, it's likely he doesn't really understand his choices, and though he has had a much more comfortable way of life than us, it's still hard to transition to a much less forgiving way of life. I had to leave behind friends and family I still wish I had a good relationship with, but the cultlike environment (JW) is specifically designed to discourage leaving. Learning about other viewpoints are heavily discouraged, as is associating with people not in the same belief structure.

While mine was religion, with how polarizing his father is and the protection needed, I don't doubt he had even less access to other people and viewpoints than I did. I at least got to meet people online, at work, and through shows (funny enough, Futurama was a huge part of breaking me away) to get some other viewpoints, but some of my friends were homeschooled and wouldn't watch or be allowed to watch almost anything secular.

It's why so many are afraid to allow kids to go to college (pretty discouraged by JW also), because they might change. I say at 18 the chance of someone in his position being able to get alternative experiences is slim to none.

  • No, you're reading it wrong. The trolley destroys what it runs over. An easy way to imagine it instead of money's say property. You have 4 people on one line, or your nice shiny car on another. If you choose the people over the car, you've killed 4 people just to keep your car. In like vein, this rich person can either destroy potential profits but save lives, or he can choose to save the profit over the lives of multiple people.

I don't see how your version works: it would be destroying both.

  • I've also been to Chicago once (going to an Anime con up there; was a meet up for AMV creators worldwide, and while I wasn't one my brother was), but it was a chill and nice experience for me. The last time I heard gunshots was actually this past new years, when my neighbor fired off like 12-15 shots during fireworks (GA, not in Atlanta but not too far either).

  • Knowledge Fight takes a critical look at Alex Jones(I put this in every post I make about him because I can't stand to listen to AJ direct, and I don't want people thinking I do). Anyway, he goes out to break quite often shouting stuff like THEYRE COMING FOR YOU, THEY'RE COMING FOR YOU, THEY'RE COMING FOR YOU!!! after having discussed the "demonic antifa/BLM/democrats coming to your houses."

Obviously not everyone is as sensationalist as Alex Jones, but he's been bragging about how other places have started sounding like him. Including Joe Rogan (probably more on Vax and stuff like that, but still)

  • Nah, I listen to Knowledge Fight which debunks Jones who rants about what you said. This meat is specifically lab grown, not alternative meats, so either DeSantis is a total moron to mix em up, or he's doing this sorta on what you're saying but more on the prop up beef markets side than scared of insects side. It's like dairy companies attacking any non dairy milk, like oatmilk, almondmilk, etc. This one feels less the conspiracy pipeline and more lobbying money.

    Though obviously conspiracy speaking points.

  • It's to encourage loyalty, like wearing branded clothes, using branded bags, or loyalty programs. This one is very benign though, so I don't find it in any way something to complain about.
