  • Israel could genocide the Palestinians in a few hours, but then the international community would bomb their asses back to the stone age.

But, if they were to say, fund a religious extremist or two (which they totally did in the beginning), and then look the other way as that extremist starts up a terrorist organization or two, then the Israeli leaders can constantly be in a state of "protecting themselves" and easily maintain their own power in government.

Plus the constant low level terrorist attacks justify more oppression and theft of land, and any time there's international pushback about the oppression or theft of land, you see a larger terrorist attack.

If I were conspiracy minded, I'd say that there are mossad plants in Hamas who gently nudge when Israeli leaders need a distraction.

  • The inverse is also true. Israel has kept these people bottled up in what amounts to open air concentration camps for the last 70 years, and constantly killing Palestinians for that entire time.

Israel has never cared about collateral damage in their war on the people who lived there before.

So imagine a people, treated like criminals for their entire lives, all because they lived on the land that Zionists wanted.

All that resentment for the unceasing oppression let the worst elements gain power.

The path to change is not to expect the oppressed to stop lashing out. Only in ending the oppression can there be change.

But the Israeli government isn't interested in stopping the oppression. They could have done that at any time in the last 70 years. No, they seem to want a full genocide.

  • Fun fact about that Zionist army in 1948, it was made up of literal terrorist organizations, one of which (the Lehi) wanted to fight alongside the Nazis during WW2 because they hated the British so much.

Hitler said no to their offer of support. But the offer apparently reached his desk. Well, offers. They tried multiple times in 1940 and 1941.

The sort of mind that it took to want to join with the Nazis after Kristallnacht...

One of the Lehi's main activities during the build up to the 1948 war, was to assassinate Jews who they viewed as "traitors" i.e. Jews who cooperated with or were friendly with either the British, or Arabs (Palestinians). Add in a few bombings and the odd mass rape/massacre, and you have one of the bloodiest terrorist organizations of the mid-century.

Anyway, in 1980, all the surviving Lehi members got medals of honor from the Israeli government."for military service towards the establishment of the State of Israel"

  • The initial reason Newsom chose Butler is that she wasn't running for the seat.

See, when Harris became the VP, Newsom appointed a white mane to replace her. This pissed off a lot of people who are really interested in identify politics.

So Newsom made a promise to appoint a black woman if he had the opportunity. (Which seemed likely)

So the obvious candidate would have been Lee. A black woman who is part of the Progressive Caucus.

There are two problems that came up. First is that Nancy Peloci. Wanted to give the seat to Adam Shift.

This is an issue that can mostly be ignored, but she put the weight of the party finances behind his campaign.

The second issue is that Lee was running for the seat, but trailing in the polls.

Put those together and you have a situation where if Newsom had appointed Lee, he would have been accused of putting his thumb on the scales of the election. So he appointed Butler, likely under the impression that she would serve out the end of the term and step aside.

That she is not, is kind of scummy.

  • RT is literally state controlled media.

RT has regularly been described as a major propaganda outlet for the Russian government and its foreign policy.[2] Academics, fact-checkers, and news reporters (including some current and former RT reporters) have identified RT as a purveyor of disinformation[58] and conspiracy theories.[65] UK media regulator Ofcom has repeatedly found RT to have breached its rules on impartiality, including multiple instances in which RT broadcast "materially misleading" content.[72]

In 2012, RT's editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan compared the channel to the Russian Ministry of Defence.[73] Referring to the Russo-Georgian War, she stated that it was "waging an information war, and with the entire Western world".[17][74]

As to the show being "independent"... It was made by Assange, specifically to air on RT. Assange was paid for the show, because that's how licensing content works.

  • Is everyone forgetting how Assange had a TV show on RT, the Russian state propaganda network?

And how every single leak about Russia was either heavily redacted, or just not released, when leaks about the US or US allies were not? Even when some of those US ally leaks put people in danger?

Wikileaks showed clear favoritism to Russia, because Russia was footing the bills.

  • The thing is, McCarthy also broke promises to the Democrats. He cooperated one time to keep the stock market happy, but otherwise reneged on half a dozen other deals. The only way for someone to be less cooperative would be if they let the government shutdown.

  • When you get down to it, China might talk a big game about hating the west, but 99.9999% of human conflicts have not been with someone half the world away, they've always been with our neighbors, because those are the people you see all the time (metaphorically in the case of countries).

If that area of the world were a suburban neighborhood, China would be the guy who tries to claim the narrow access road behind everyone's house as his own personal driveway, and then starts issuing threats when people call him on his bullshit. Just with nuclear missiles.

  • Well, Mediamatters isn't the biggest news org, but then again, this is how it starts. A smaller news source runs a story that then leads to other stories, then Reddit admins see it splashed across national news, panic about it, then they ban the sub while pretending they knew nothing about it, or that they had been issuing warnings that went unheard.

  • I really need to bite the bullet and wipe windows off my new laptop. I've had an arch based distro downloaded and ready to go since mid August. Just don't want to have to download my steam library again. My shitty Internet is painful sometimes.

  • Beans can taste amazing when prepared by a competent chef, but often taste like shit when prepared wrong.

Cheese, on the other hand, is much more forgiving of poor preparation. Eat it straight out of the package, sliced and on bread or crackers, melt it into sauces, or grill it, or any number of other uses.

Simply put, cheese is fast and easy, and can elevate almost any other food.

Also, try to get kids to eat beans. It can happen. But not easily, and often you have to do it in the form of chili, with loads of cheese.
