  • I am genuinely and truly curious what antipornography people think is an appropriate punishment for the creation of written erotica. What is your opinion (if that is your perspective and I am not putting that opinion on you)? The read I got is most likely incorrect, then. What is correct?

  • His positions have swung around a lot, and apparently he's inclined to depression and moods swings? I hope he's come out of the cult thinking, at least, and making a new game is a sign he's not in that obsessive mindset anymore. I'm not interested in giving him my money, but it'd be better for everyone if he wasn't into conspiracies.

  • Is the treatment described in the article non-punative, or is the source flawed?

I thought you said that psychologists should direct people to be healthier, not that society should decide what is allowed and not allowed. Coming from a perspective where I am a woman attracted to other woman, I am not interested in what society doesn't like. My personal interest is in harm and the reduction of it, and science backed means of doing so.

Every government is untrustworthy and should be treated like a dangerous tool that can help or harm, depending on how the flawed humans who wield it choose to do so.

Could you share with me China's science on the dangers of erotica? The science of it is deeply interesting to me, more so than any government position, or the erotica itself. I'm never going to think prison or fines or psychological torture are the correct responses to describing an act millions of people perform every day, but if there is evidence of harm, I'm interested in reading it. If I need to agonize over machine translations, I'm willing to give it a shot.

  • So you disagree with prison sentences for erotica writers, unless recommended by a psychologist?

  • His controversy section on wikipedia is fascinating. Is he still a Q believer?

  • What do you think is an appropriate punishment? My inclination is "nothing," since writing about sex is the same as writing about any other normal everyday thing people do, but I'm always curious what would be appropriate to people who see things differently. Fewer years? A fine? Community service? I am genuinely curious.

What punishment should librarians in the US get for distributing written sex? They get a paycheck for this work. How much should Chuck Tingle have to pay, or how much time should he serve?

  • Cops abuse people they have control over, everywhere in the world. Their cameras didn't all coincidentally and accidentally delete evidence, either, c'mon.

  • people age at different rates, but age limits seem like an easy answer to the complicated problem of removing someone from office when they show signs of being unfit. People like when it's easy, but it doesn't solve the actual problem. Someone with early onset dementia or some other illness that means they can't effectively do their job is just as hard to remove. While preventing someone who'll stay sharp until they die at 90 from doing a job they're still capable of.

I wonder if there's a way to make it easier without making it too easy and able to be manipulated by bad actors.

  • That makes a lot of sense! I have trouble remembering exactly when this or that tech was introduced.

  • i switched to firefox because it had tabs and ie didn't. ie7 had tabbed browsing in 2006? i later switched to chrome because firefox stopped working well and i got sick of troubleshooting. i switched to brave a few years ago and started using firefox again this year, but i'm regularly switching browsers still trying to find one i like.

the loss of market share was because of chrome, right? Google had a good reputation back then, and their browser worked easily and you could customize it. I wish there were more options that weren't modified firefox or chrome, but i get why it's tough.

  • At least the lights weren't going to fall off and hit other cars lol

  • It's generally implemented in a way that takes away fun. If a game had fun fights that were always intended to be strategic, it'd be ok, but when you have to kill identical mob after identical mob to progress in the plot, i don't see the point.

i remember getting bored and annoyed near the end of oblivion.

  • Tough to remember, but I was loud and nonviolent, based on what i know about myself. If you see a kitten bite another kitten too hard, they yell out. I try to go "OW" when I'm training a young one not to bite, and then move away (fun time is now over). A mama cat will bat a kitten's ears for misbehaving, but I don't do that. I mostly suspect I didn't react how her instincts said I should (i didn't hunt and play with it and then eat it). Combined with the loud noise, it wasn't something worth trying again. Could've just been a coincidence, because it's not like training them out of biting where there's a clear progression to gentler biting and then licking and then a little pause when my hand is where she would normally bite it.

  • Like a dog peeing on the floor, dropping a mouse on the bed has to happen once so they can figure out it's unwanted. Unfortunately. The impulse is sweet, though - she was sharing food and play with me - so it's just a silly story I share about her, now. She was such a great little hunter. I had her as a kitten in an old house, and she leapt to the challenge of taking care of the slight mouse problem. Or, supplementing the household's food, as perhaps she saw it. When we moved from that house to one with a serious mouse problem, she became the hardest worker there. That memory, once the sheets were clean, became a cherished one. She cared about my well being, and giving me food was a way of showing me I was part of her cat family.

  • Mario looks so depressed in that first screenshot for some reason

  • I can't guarentee anything, but hissing is usually 'knock it off' and growling is 'fuck off i'll bite.' You could try being generally loud first, though, since your human hiss might not get parsed the same as a cat hiss if you don't do it right at first. Say 'no!' very loud. Clap your hands. If it's far, stomp and go "hey!!!" Some cats pick up weird socialization and I'm not a cat expert, so take what i say with a grain of salt, tho.

When I see my cat scratch the wrong thing I go "Hey!!" and thump the table and she'll stop what she's doing. Then when she scratches the right thing, I go "Oh, good job, kitty!" in a much softer, gentle voice. She doesn't really get it. She hears the loud tone, stops scratching, and jumps up on the couch. She doesn't get it's 'stop,' but she stops, so it's good enough for me. They don't like loud noises or certain smells, so you can use those to make them not want to be around you without hurting them.

I like the advice here on how to reduce a cat phobia. If you spend time with some very chill cats who will only be aggressive in extreme cases, you'll learn their body language and signals and have an easier time signalling to them. It's easier to "get" cats when you understand how little they understand us.

I wish I could help more. I remember being terrified of dogs as a kid, until I met a neighbor's tiny elderly guy, who was so gentle and hard to fear, I slowly overcame it. Good luck! Sorry about the rambling.
