  • They're shooting themselves in the foot if embedded videos gets disabled.

  • You don't understand, she's rich so human empathy can be rationalized away.

  • As an IT guy, I hate everything about the OneDrive setup. Using it, dealing with users that have to use it, it's a lot.

I like AD and the management interfaces, that's about where Microsoft's Enterprise offerings cease to be helpful to me.

  • The guy you're replying to or the nonce suggesting we shelve all transportation technology and only use trains?

  • S.A.B.E.R. was the project name I believe, synergetic air breathing rocket engine.

Basically you intake air at lower speeds and transition to LOX when necessary.

  • Right, but the ship itself would allow the shockwave, metal is still matter for vibrations to follow.

  • If you made direct impact wouldn't the fuselage of the ship and the atmosphere inside it still allow for the traditional blast to propagate?

  • Yeah, cause automation and productivity increase has always been transferred to the laborer from which wages are derived.

Oh wait, no it gets taken by the capitalist owner and we get even less money for the work we get done.

  • That's the point, it takes all the factors we know about and speed runs through all the possible ways it could work. Humans don't have the time to look for every single possible way a battery could be constructed, but a ML model can just work it's way through the issue faster and without human intervention.

Plus just like with the new group of antibiotics we just used AI to discover, it will allow truly thinking Humans to expand upon it.

Really sick of this "oh but you don't realize AI don't actually think! Therefore it's all worthless!" With this smug bullshit like you think you're bringing anything of value to the conversation.

  • So I assume the leadership, which gets paid the big bucks due to their decisions making much larger impacts on the company, will take responsibility for the action and will be fired due to their salary being based on the level of personal responsibility to their company's success/failure.

Oh wait, no. Once again we wipe out the bottom rung workforce, expect the remaining employees to do twice the work with no extra pay in the face of increasing cost of housing and living, meanwhile their professional gambler CEO either gets off scott free or snags a golden parachute on the way out the door to their next job.

  • I'm starting to think most of lemmy is populated by a bunch of kids who just read Marx and have no actual world experiences cause they're 14.

  • It's a good read, makes you realize how swindled we got, and what we might have had if they'd adopted these ideas in the late 1800's.

  • Free housing is just as unrealistic as not working.

  • Progress and Poverty, and you still can't just have everything for free even in a better system.

  • No, I run Linux at home for most things but keep a Windows 10 install for certain games and I work in IT in an Apple/Windows environment.

I really don't think Windows is that bad, sure it's got some aging design choices that never get updated like settings and control panel being a half assed attempt at upgrading, but overall most of the complaints I hear about it are just misunderstandings by Linux absolutists.

  • Is it really "socialism" if I think the tax burden should fall on the land owners exclusively and the laborers should derive the larger portion of their labor value than the capitalist that simply made their work more efficient with their capital? Due to wages driving from labor value increasing capital?

We likely wouldn't even need social safety nets if the capitalists weren't taking the largest cut on the pretense that wages derive from capital, and the market wasn't being driven by those with excess wealth.

  • No, Im not some "hurr durr both sides are equal" moron. Both sides do have issues, but they're not equal. The left is on the correct side socially but they often have an incredibly naive view of how the world functions, often operating on "why can't we all just get along and be rich together?" Levels of fantasy.

However, the US right is socially authoritarian and wants to oppress anyone who doesn't fit a christo-fascist perspective, and their economic viewpoint is messed up due to conflation of where wages are derived from. So they fail both sides of the coin whereas progressives only fail on economics.

If I HAD to take one of two sides I'm going left, because I refuse to abide by people who hate those that are different, and I have a lot of gay and trans friends. However I don't agree with the lemming philosophy of Auth-Left being the solution to our problems.
