Honestly $150 is probably more reasonable for what's involved but I understand that everybody everywhere is overcharging for everything these days. A screwdriver and one of those plastic thingies to easily pop off the interior panels to stuff the cables inside.
I decided last night to finally get serious about getting my dashcam installed in my car. I found a well-reviewed service online and put an inquiry in using their online form.
How much money do you think someone would charge to run a couple of cables through a car and connect them up to 2 cameras and the battery? The cables, cameras and everything required already provided by me, the customer. If you guessed FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS then you might be interested in hiring this company. THE FUCKING DASHCAM (2 FRONT AND REAR) WAS $435 AND IT'S ONE OF THE BEST ONES YOU CAN BUY!
It's a job I'd honestly almost try myself. A job which should likely take a professional maybe 45 minutes and I'm padding that.
Anyways I wrote back to their email telling them their quote was insane and about $150 more than I'd expect. Called AutoBarn out in Melton and they'll do it for $270 no problem. I can swallow $270 knowing they'll it well and do it right.
Shaved, showered, washed my hair, started getting ready for in-office day but forgot I didn't book a desk. Login and notice none of my team have booked desks. Login to Teams to find messages that none of my team are going in today. Proceed to not put on pants. Today's alright so far.
Went for a drive out to Altona for a crunchwrap supreme from Taco Bell and then over to ... I just checked the maps and apparently it's Laverton North but it's not where I'd say Laverton North is.. anyway I took the car over to "Laverton North" for a nice wash to get the bugs and road off from my long weekend adventures.
Lovely brrr'ing around with some tunes and AC on a warm evening.
I'm home from my cheap motel split system utopia. Apartment is gross but I've gotten here early enough in the day to hopefully cool it before the sun really starts hitting the windows.
Seriously considering tinfoiling my bedroom wall of windows.
Moving over to Moama today. I was going to be coming home today but with that heat still sticking around I'll stay in my cheap motels with their kickass split systems thanks.
Time to shower and head off to my favourite local cafe for an eggs benny and an iced coffee before I hit the road.
Mulwala Water Ski Club has generously decided to fund my entire weekend and even added in a little extra spending money. Now back to hide in my air-conditioned motel room.
Just waiting at the local barbers and saw one dude sit down and show the hairdresser a photo of what he wants, but the photo was of a model with way more hair than he has lol
I didn't tell you all my embarrassing story from Wednesday night but now I'm gonna.
The short version: I fully stacked a rental scooter and it was not elegant.
So I was riding home from dinner Wednesday night when I got to Harbour Esplanade. There was a large group of people blocking the entire path obliviously just messing around so I attempted to go around them on the left. This was at the pedestrian crossing which goes across the road/tram lines and is the entrance to a tram stop.
It turned out that between the tram lines wasn't concrete like on the pedestrian crossing but a drop off and rocks, which I hit hard and went over the handlebars and landed on my right side. I landed on the helmet which was hanging from the scooter (I don't wear them..) and completely destroyed it. A few people asked if I was alright. I was in pain but more embarrassed so I just said I was fine and got myself up and dusted myself off. Managed to not break my phone (left pocket) or my sunglasses (hanging from the neck of my tshirt) which was a plus but I got a decent boo-boo on my elbow, which later also developed an egg-sized egg that evening. Also got a nice bruise on my right knee, a couple of bruises on my back and somehow one on my left inner thigh (maybe landing on the helmet). The worst of it though was that I stupidly braced my fall with my right hand out, which really hurt my thumb where it meets my palm. I wasn't sure if I'd broken anything in it or my wrist but it was agony to touch. Moving it hurt but I had full range of movement and no crunchy sounds so I figure it's just bruised and I've been resting it since and it does seem to slowly be getting less painful.
Today the pain in my back is the worst it has been though. I'm ok getting around but twisting and bending is no bueno.
Anywho.. that's what happened. It has been quite some time since I've fallen over. It's definitely not as fun as I remember it being.
True to form; I woke up this morning and booked myself some border accommodation for the weekend starting this afternoon to escape my apartment/sweatbox during the heat. Didn't consider that I was due to do some clothes washing. I might have enough to see me through but I've still chucked a load on anyway and I'll see how quickly I can dry a few things. Gotta keep me on my toes I guess.
I was actually shocked to find accommodation. When I looked a few days ago everything was 100% booked out!
