  • No, you complained about me reporting it at all. If your were just complaining about unequal moderation, you would have taken it up with the moderator, who I have no control of, you would not have accused me of "trying to shut down discussion when I started to lose" or whatever.

As I said: sometimes having views and opinions vehemently challenged is fine

Great, I agree; but are you actually willing to grant that right to people who disagree with you, because it doesn't seem like it.

and sometimes it’s enlightening how little pushback some assholes can take.

    Mmmm, it sure fucking is.

  • Like I said, i don’t respond in good faith to people who aren’t acting in good faith.

I also like being an asshole to assholes.

    There's that double standard again.

I promise, it’s ok to ease your tone and acknowledge your own missteps. Nobody on the internet will think less of you.

And there's that bad faith disingenuousness again.

  • Lol, you're literally trying to frame me reporting you for breaking the rules as "using the report button as a weapon to silence dissent,"

and this is what I mean when I say you people have a massive double standard and are willfully disingenuous.

  • I’m engaging with you in good faith right now

My goodness. You’re an insufferable blowhard.

    K

as soon as you are met with anything aside from agreement you leap to some pretty crazy assumptions about people you’re talking to on the internet.

    K

Just be a little bit better?

    K

Like I said, i don't respond in good faith to people who aren't acting in good faith.

  • You literally tried to shut down conversation when it got rough for you.

Ahhh, and there it is. The liberal double standard we know and love. "You only got banned for breaking the rules, BUT HOW DARE YOU REPORT ME FOR BREAKING THE RULES! YOU'RE SHUTTING DOWN THE CONVERSATION!"

  • You get what you've given, I'm not going to pretend people acting in bad faith are actually being sincere, and I'm not going to treat people better than they treat me. Frankly this is the most annoying thing about liberals; they feel they can be as rude, bigoted, and willfully obtuse as they like, and then think everyone else has to be super nice to them.

I'm going to insult white supremacist ultra-nationalists when I see them, and I don't care if you don't like that.

I don’t assume that a person who disagrees with me on the internet is automatically a child white supremacist ultra-nationalist, which is what you did all over that thread and in others.

I didn't "assume" anything, I responded to they said.

My comments that insulted you were removed.

Some of them were, many of them were left behind.

There’s a pattern there, if you can just take off your emotional blinders and see it.

Right back at you, champ. Oh, but I forgot, liberals can never imagine that they might be the ones with emotional blinders.

Tell me about how you inject nuance into a conversation?

    How do you?

Also, a great example of why it's not worth having good faith discussions with liberals, because they have a massive double standard and will just act disingenuous: notice how you complain about getting called a lib on lemmy, and when I respond that I get much worse on world, I get some lemmy.world child jumping in to throw insults? Why they fuck would I bother acting in good faith to you people when you will never do the same.

  • Lol, let me ask this: do &you* adopt a soft and super obliging approach to conversations with people who are obviously acting in bad faith and trying to antagonize? When you talk with white supremacists or neo-nazis do you make sure to be as nice as possible?

No, you don't. I know you don't, because I can see what you said in the other thread.

Also, you'll notice I had all my comments removed and was banned, while you just had the most egregious ones removed.

I am of the mind that dissenting and even occasionally mean spirited discourse is good.

No you're not, you explicitly said of me "They’re clearly just starting shit, without a single inkling of good faith argumentation. It should be glaringly obvious.". What you think is good is you being able to be abusive and disingenuous, and other people having to be totally sincere pretend you're being good faith or get banned.

which is generally true except for .ml, where if I try to inject any nuance to international relations I am simply called a “liberal.”

Poor baby; what do you think I get called when I try to inject any nuance into international relations at lemmy.world (before I get banned)? I promise you it's a lot worse than "liberal."

  • I get all my comments removed and then I get banned regardless of what I say, and you only get your most egregious comments removed when I explicitly point out the double standard to the mod. That's exactly what I'm talking about.

I also only insult people who are already themselves not engaging substantively and are being belligerent.

  • No, that's not it, because insulting comments from people who the mods agree with aren't removed, it's just when people with different views respond in kind that they swoop in to lock it down.

Also, this is just the classic double standard people like you hold for why it's not heavy handed censorship when your mods do it: "I was censored for trying to have a discussion! You were rightfully banned for being an asshole" (ignoring, of course, that the difference is just who you agree with).
