  • I mean, supporting someone because you like their policies is a fine reason, but that is very much not the reason you gave. Also, can you not see how deranged it is to scream "RUSSIA LOVER!!!!!!!" at anyone who disagrees with you in a conversation about Canadian politics when they never even mentioned Russia?

  • Seems like you're just coming from a position of pure western chauvinism, starting with the premise that the West is the 'good guys' and their enemies are the 'bad guys' and working backwards from it. That's the only way you could arrive at this idea that there's some binary "democrat/not democrat" standard. In truth its not really clear how you could say that China is any less democratic than the USA, let alone "not a democrat country" (implying the USA is).

Even more clearly chauvinistic is your third bullet point. How in the world are you determining which countries are "well intentioned?" Is Israel will intentioned? Is Saudi Arabia? Is the USA? How are you determining that China and the many African countries it's friends with are not "well intentioned"? Seems like you're just appealing to orientalist stereotypes about non Westerners being conniving and duplicitous.

  • I can understand concerns over point #2 here, but #1 and #3 seem wild to me.

Seems fairly arrogant for you to declare that these positions are 'wild' and then expect other people to explain why they're not. Seems like you should be able to justify why those positions are "wild", because they seem perfectly reasonable to me.

  • now is perfectly able to declare independence if the population so wishes -the falklands just, shockingly, overall benefit from being a part of a larger and richer national entity.

Hmm, very interesting. Now let's hear your opinion on Crimea and Donbas.

  • Using academic terms like the Global South doesn’t instantly make you smart or right.

Nobody ever said it did; you're just trying to use the fact that they know what they're talking about to discredit them.

    geographically

Lol, this is just being deliberately obtuse. Next you're going to be arguing that Australia isn't part of the West

or as in Ukraine much worse

Ok, now you're just straight up denying history

  • If your government starts a war you have to pay the price.

Hey look at that, it's Bin Laden's moral justification for 9/11

Though it doesn't really apply here, because for you to use the whole "Palestine started it so Israel is just defending themselves by genocideing the civilian population" you have to acknowledge that Palestine is a sovereign country. And if that's the case, then what Israel has been doing to it for decades - blockading, cutting of food and water, violating it's borders, killing it's people, bombing it, forcing it's people to carry ID cards, etc - meet the definition of acts of war many times over (as well as being war crimes) which means Palestine is completely justified in defending itself, including - by the standards you've set - by killing Israeli civilians.
