  • Mostly right except for aluminum and maybe PET #1 plastics. Glass should be washed and the bottles reused. It would be informative to the average person if it said “plastic, not recyclable “ so that people know for everything except PET.

What makes aluminum cans so unique is that they are often recycled back into themselves, containing nearly 70% recycled material. That is 3 times more than plastic or glass. This translates into the can’s leaving a good environmental footprint. It also has a high value for re-selling, making recycling programs possible. Scrap aluminum gets $1367 per ton, as compared to plastic that only gets $310, and glass actually gets $0 per ton. Cans are also getting lighter, while continuing to stay durable. This leads to better efficiency for shipping, and eventually less waste.

  • I use fastmail. I have used it for couple of years now and it has been working well. It was a calendar, notes and file functions too. Tried proton. The app was always slow to open and refresh. It is also easier for people to understand fastmail.com when you are giving them your email.

  • I own a tesla model y and am already looking at replacing it. Vandalizing my car won’t help me replace it. I am also never going to buy another tesla again. I would have loved a Rivian but their suv was 15k more without the super charging network.

The Elon Nazi salute didn’t happen until January 20th so 99% of tesla owners didn’t know he was a nazi when purchasing their cars.

Considering almost all car companies were caught up in the emissions scandals, I am pretty sure most people vandalizing other people’s cars, own a car from a car company that destroyed the environment for profits. It isn’t that easy to avoid companies that do shitty things.

Not advocating vandalism but tesla dealerships and showrooms make more sense as a target than individual owners.

  • I also had a similar experience with bazzite and ubuntu.
Apps would look like they installed but they are nowhere. Tried the app store. Tried flatpak. It instilled but clicking on the icon wouldn’t launch anything. Ended up with two icons for the same app. One works one doesn’t. No easy way to uninstall non working app.

Bazzite bluetooth stopped working after update. Had to run two commands found on the Bazzite forum to get it to work again. Steam wouldn’t update either. Had to run another command I found on the forum to get it to update.

This is all last week. I am still running both but I wouldn’t call it ready for the non-IT user.

The App Store has to work consistently for it to be accessible for the average person.

  • Drop shippers aren’t normally authorized sellers/resellers for the product so the manufacturer doesn’t have to warranty their products. Unfortunately, you won’t find out until 6 months down the road.

It can also hurt small businesses because they don’t get to interact with their customers. Their products could get negative reviews on Amazon even if they never wanted sell the product on Amazon. Negative reviews could be because of the shipping or customer service provided by the drop shipper and the customer doesn’t know that the business had nothing to with those issues.

  • This is stupid. If you are going to vandalize a car for ideological reasons at least pick one you know what the person is thinking. Not every Tesla driver agrees with Musk. Most actually do not. There are plenty of jacked up MAGA trucks with hate stickers that can be vandalized if you insist on vandalizing a vehicle.

IOS 18.3 has starlink connectivity so don’t forget to destroy all the iphones you see. Clearly all those iphone users support Musk.

  • I don’t know for sure but I assume of it is because light roofs require more maintenance to look as nice. Nothing shows up on a dark brown or black roof. A white or light grey would show dirt and debris. I don’t want to waste my time washing my roof because my HOA doesn’t like the way it looks.

  • Unfortunately, that isn’t quite right for guys. Skinny, straight, relaxed…. All these types changes the fit and sizing. I wear one waist size larger for skinny.

Women’s are much worse sizing wise but the difference is that guys jeans generally just look acceptable . When a woman gets jeans that fit her correctly, they can look amazing. I doubt guys ever get compliments on the fit of their jeans.

For women, they could use 6- measurements to standardize it but unfortunately a lot of people fall for vanity sizing and don’t want to accept that they gained weight.

It happens for guys clothing too. If it is a letter based sizing there are huge variations in sizing between clothing companies. For high end brands I wear a large, at Walmart or other box stores, I wear a small.

  • That isn’t how taxes work. You don’t vote to raise taxes on the rich and accidentally raise taxes on the middle class. You can’t say not to raise taxes because rich might find loopholes. No one says we shouldn’t sentence people to prison because the most connected people might escape.

  • Consumers are all about consistency. You can have a worse product as long as it is consistent every time. Ordering process being consistent is also important. That is partially why Starbucks pushes their terminology. The terminology also creates a feeling of being in a group and makes it more difficult to order at other places. Then add in gamified reward programs and a good phone app. Starbucks makes it difficult for local places to compete even with a better overall product.

  • Probably but you can use a different dns provider. If you are really concerned, a vpn is the best answer to make sure they don’t get any of your information. The problem is that there aren’t very many VPNs that can do anything close to 10Gbs.

  • They are going to have the same problem they had with their original phones. No apps. They could never get enough developers to care about the OS without a user base. You also can’t get a user base without apps. That’s what killed the windows phone.
Amazon tried to use the kindle formula on a cell phone. The problem is that the main reason the kindle was successful was there was no real competition. They also only need to provide books not apps for the kindle. The cellphone market was a lot more mature with a ton of options. They came in with a mediocre phone that had less apps and less configurability. They tried to do the Apple walled garden on an Android phone. Clearly they didn’t understand their market.
