  • It should be repeated: no American corporation is going to let their employees put data into DeepSeek.

Accept this truth. The LLM you can download and run locally is not the same as what you’re getting on their site. If it is, it’s shit, because I’ve been testing r1 in ollama and it’s trash.

  • I don’t know, I just grab them and put them in my cart when I go to the grocery store. I’m going to buy them no matter what they cost, so why bother worrying about it? Holy shit it’s like 75% of the country has gone insane.

  • It wasn’t my intention to condescend; I just figured you might not understand that the US’ strength is primarily due to the fact that the USD is the currency the world trades in. Weakening the USD has a lot of implications for changing the world order, which would benefit Russia.

Many years ago, Russia and china tried to develop an alternative currency to use in the global energy market. Weakening the US is a major goal for Putin, and so it is for Trump.

  • Because of the separation of powers and checks and balances we have in the US, he doesn’t have unilateral power to do whatever he wants. He can typically only inch toward Putin’s goals. Why do you think he is trying to weaken our relationships with our allies through tariffs and talk of land grabs?

  • Ok I read it.

    Here’s my take.

This is a set up. Putin now has to say “ok, ok, we’ll make a deal!”

Then he says he’ll end the operation in Ukraine but only if they retain taken territory.

Then Trump gets to say that’s reasonable, and Zelenskyy becomes the disagreeable one for saying no.

    Trump then turns on Zelenskyy.

I give it 3 months before this chain of events becomes reality.

  • My most vivid memories of Fox News were when the GWB administration was trying to build a case against Iraq, especially following 9/11. When it reached its boiling point and GWB called a press conference, I knew he was declaring war. The rhetoric had done its job.

Fox News talking heads later confirmed that they were receiving talking points from the White House during that era. It hasn’t ended.
