I was better off, but this was an average government subsidized day care, a neighborhood Hoikuen (保育園). Everything else was just normal stuff. In fact, we didn't qualify for the few thousand from the city office because we were ex-pats. Medical is free for Japanese. So where are the costs?

My first two kids were born in Japan, and they were actually pretty cheap. The local city gives you some money (a few thousand) when your child is born, and day care was good and super cheap, like $10 per day because it was subsidized.

It really wasn't very expensive.

I actually bought a sex toy on Amazon a week ago and I was pissed that they asked for my driver's license to purchase it. WTF? What a screwed up country we live in.

If you put chocolate syrup on your ice cream it's not the ice cream you enjoy. If you put salt on your eggs, it's not the eggs you enjoy. If you put milk in your cereal, it's not the cereal you enjoy.

This logic doesn't hold up, and smacks of gatekeeping.

Why do you assume everyone on this site is exactly the same? Is it that hard to grasp that there's a spectrum of people who are at different stages in their lives with different amounts of money?

Also, how much do you think this cost? A bus billboard goes for what, $300-500 a month? Is it that crazy to imagine there are people here that don't have that much free money?

I'm rather shocked that it's so low. Back in the '90s, the estimate for gay people was 10%,. Here we are 30 years later when it's perfectly fine to be out of the closet and love someone of the same sex... And the numbers haven't changed? I would have thought it would increase with the acceptance of being gay.

This really smells like something that directly stems from Trump Putin talks. Trump is basically going to come up with a shitty deal for Ukraine, and then try to strong-arm Europe and Ukraine into going along with it. This is just a way of saying " hey Europe, this can affect you too! You should totally pressure Ukraine into taking this shitty deal... cuz you wouldn't want something bad to happen, right? (Hint hint)"

That's not at all what a black hole does. The matter is still there, you just can't get it back out of the hole. There's is no "removal from the universe". In fact it still exerts gravitational force. That's why they're super massive black holes and just regular black holes.

I'm honestly surprised that the Congress isn't flipping their shit over this. I know the Republicans are trump lap dogs, but this directly undermines their authority and sets a new norm on executive power. I expected more self preservation from those cowards.

To be fair, there seems to be a lot of people who think childhood was the best time of their life. I'm ~50 and I think life was best in my 30s, but it's still pretty great now also. Childhood, and highschool in particular, were the worst.

Why do you think black holes destroy matter? There's an (unproven) argument that they destroy information, but I've never heard an argument that they destroy matter.
