  • but even 14 years seems long for a pharase that is said and written millions of times per day. and if those crackers can make billions of guesses per second how can they not guess both variants within minutes?

related question. how to make a good password bettter? adding a few extra special symbols like "µ£₹" or one long word like "freshwatercrocodiletesticles"?

  • i also dont really get it. the bitwarden pw tester says it will take 14 years to crack "its.a.beautiful.day", write beautiful with 2 t`s and it will take "centuries"? 🧐

but yes i still use them. but always with numbers and random characters in between and words from multiple languages or fantasy words.

  • i did that test and got a ~$40 book for free 😆

  • ah crazy, i made it work with Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS!

For some reason i had to unplug the PC before restarting. Then it got found as UEFI and could boot.

The full installation on the USB was a bit dirty, as i put the Live Ubuntu in a Virtual Machine and installed it from there. So i typed the full disk encryption and login passwords in Windows ... but I wont be too paranoid about that one now 😅

  • ok, appreciate your time and insight. thanks!

  • seems to involve disabling secure boot, not happy with that. will cause more paranoia 😬

  • like i said, i tried mint, does not work from that stick, only tails works. what i want to achieve is not much:

    • create files that i cannot decrypt in my windows, even if i have the keys or the password, which i both dont have. (already done in tails)
    • run this one single app on a secure usb, so when my windows or phone have a virus/stolen/lost, this app is not there and not in danger.
  • Appreciate it a lot, thanks. What Distro would you recommend running from a USB?

Beside security concerns about stuff that I don't understand, my only real needs are:

    • Kleopatra (to generate keys and passwords my Windows will never know about)
    • And this fucking App that will not connect to the internet on Tails.
  • soon will be one year old.

  • yes and my pc too 😅

  • omg pls do digress! like i said, im reallly open to other distros.

    did try other ports.

dont have another usb. i like this one cuz its fast and i dont want to buy a new one before being sure it will work.

  • super great app, thanks for sharing!

  • basically.

even minimal metadata for example from signal contains

    Message dates and times

Message senders and recipients (via phone number identifiers)

From these 2 pieces of information, its possible to build social graphs: who talked to who, and when they did it. Also, who's in a group chat with who else.

    (worth to read in full)

  • On unexpected keyboard i need to swipe the enter key upwards right and it opens sayboard 😸

thanks for bringing my attention to this!

  • Could you explain how to "pair" them?

Unexpected keyboard also has a voice dictation button, could not figure out how to make use of it.

  • Thanks, appreciate it. And just to be clear, i found this article on the internet and thought its interesting to share with a community who claims to care about privacy; it was not meant to be a slander attack or anything, and I remain like 80% sure that youre not CIA 😜

  • yes replacement and improvement, but unexpected keyboard is true innovation. I really like it but for diacritics and "special letters" its just not as good. to type â for example i need to hold a, then select the letter, whilst in unexpected keyboard I just need to swipe a upwards right.

oh I will say it again ... those two apps need to have a baby 😅

  • Thanks for your feedback, I tried to clarify it a bit, the post title, however, cannot be changed because of rule 7.
