  • When I lived in a dorm in college we had a problem with our radiator making squeaking noises. Dorm built in the 60s for reference.

Maintenance showed up and he verbatim said "I've been working here for 30 years and have never had this problem. You might be better off moving rooms." He managed to fix it by doing basically the radiator-equivalent of turning it off and on again. Never happened again.

  • I am riding da bus

  • Plus there's the problem of having to relearn subjects to such a level of mastery that you can teach them effectively. Like 2nd grade math isn't hard at all obviously but it's really hard to synthesize and break down all material in a way that a developing mind can grasp it.

  • Yeah I remember that too. Doom 2016 was like 70 gbs and there were gaming news articles about it. Now 70 is on the low end for AAA.

  • It's not just Sony. That's how game consoles work. They're sold at a loss so they can make it up with game sales.

  • I grew up with parents who loved to do and see everything and it made me exhausted.

So when I go on vacation I just spend time relaxing.

  • Raised atheist. It's one thing to denounce a religion later in life but I never had one. Mom is ex Catholic and dad is entirely unreligious.

In the US it is incredibly rare for higher office officials to be atheist. There has never been a president that was atheist publically but a few were rumored to be privately.

  • I see what you mean too. I think a lot of people on Lemmy are just terminally online and so they don't have regular conversations with real people all that often.

  • Me and 2 roommates are splitting a 3b/1ba for $2500/mo.

Square footage total is less than the living room in the house I grew up in.

  • Then why is there a dinosaur on the gas station!?

  • This my advice too. Just make a burner and chat through there.

If there weren't a housing crisis then I'd say fuck em, but it's hard enough finding roommates as is.

  • I'm glad to live in a world where concern about safety is considered entitlement somehow

  • Is your father Hank Hill???

  • I'm saying people will say absurd things like "so you think it's okay to murder people?" I have genuinely had people ask me that when I complained about our inhumane prison system.

  • Same in Washington. You're mostly safe along I-5 and WA-101 but towns outside of those two highways can get very conservative very fast.

You have some pockets east of the mountains like Spokane and the tri cities that are slightly liberal but there's a reason most of the Republican house representatives come from the east side of the state.
