  • how in the hell would you get RDR2 to run at 60 FPS on the Switch?

  • the switch has a huge library of great games, so why would someone buy this dumpster fire instead of something good?

  • Seeing them side by side, i think i actually prefer the incorrect shot. It looks more like TNG.

  • Luke is a 19 year old kid with a gift for piloting small spacecraft.

Han Solo is an adult with actual command experience.

  • anybody who spends money on this port is a fool

  • you have to wonder why they even bothered with a switch port

  • i don’t think these are meant to have “Trek messages”, if anything the point is to lampoon them by taking various Trek tropes to comical extremes (Spock misunderstanding human emotions, cultural acceptance, etc.)

for ~3 minute shorts on YouTube, i think that is fine even if it is not everyone’s cup of tea.

  • They thought people would be confused by the Xbox 2 going up against the PlayStation 3 so they deliberately adotped even more confusing names.

  • the game will probably be finished by then too

  • The Apple TV is quietly the best little streaming box. It is very capable, and according to my PiHole it's far less chatty than my Roku or Android TV devices.

Also, I love Tailscale. I love how this press release reads like it was written by nerds for nerds rather than by writers for investors.

  • I thought the UK's reservations were more over the cloud streaming market than console exclusivity. It's hard to make a stink about market share when this acquisition will only make them #3 in total size.

But the reason I ask why this is "news" is because this little fact has been known for quite a while now.

I'm also a bit fuzzy on whether I would categorize The Elder Scrolls as a "historically cross-platform franchise" when most of it's numbered entries are not on anything other than PC or Xbox. Though to me these have always been PC games. Console versions of anything other than Skyrim felt like an afterthought.

  • How is this news?

I suppose we'll start seeing articles every time a new Mario game doesn't come out on PlayStation?

  • The industry should have stopped with the Magnavox Odyssey, every new console released since has been a scam to take more of your money in exchange for faster annd more capable hardware.

  • I won't defend Plex, but Jellyfin just isn't quite there as an alternative yet. Their ATV app leaves still leaves a lot to be desired. I'm hoping it gets there sooner than later though so I can finally jump ship. The only other thing I really want is some tool to migrate the "watched" status of all my content to Jellyfin.

  • The one thing keeping me off Jellyfin is the fact that Infuse for Apple TV doesn't have great support for it yet. Infuse is by far the most capable media player on the device, and it has excellent integration with Plex.

  • We do, and most trash in my house ends up going in recycling. But there are still things that go in the regular trash that cannot be recycled. That is part of the problem actually. Because most things end up in the recycle bin, my regular trash bin takes 8-10 days to fill up. That is a lot of time for some raw chicken trimmings to just sit there making stank, especially so close to where I prepare my food.

  • Ice keeps the soda cold throughout your meal.

In Europe my soda was often pretty close to room temperature by the time my food arrived. Not great if you like your beverages “ice cold”. But I get the impression Europeans don’t like their drinks as cold as we do in the US to begin with.

We also use larger glassware in the US, which offsets much of the volume displaced by ice.

So no, ice is not “completely pointless”, it’s just a cultural difference 🙂

  • I have several, including one in my kitchen, but I’m not sure how the number of trash cans in my house really changes the equation of “discarded chicken trimmings == really stinky trash can tomorrow”.
