  • Apologies for the tangent but can anyone tell me what this meme template is from?

  • The current state of affairs is the justification employers use for continuing to test and discipline folks for usage even in legal or medically legal states. It's also the justification banks use for not allowing dispensaries to use their services.

  • It's maybe not a perfect fit, but personally I think it's all shades of enshittification, a term coined by Cory Doctorow here:

Here is how platforms die: first, they are good to their users; then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, they die.

  • Technically Roe was a shakey foundation. It really reached to make abortion covered by the bill of rights. Best thing was to rip the bandaid off and get people pissed. Hopefully it leads to federal law adoption or better yet a new Amendment.

5 years, tops before US Republicans claim this was their goal the whole time to take "credit" for what has happened.

  • I kinda thought the ever-expanding acronym problem was being informally solved by a gradual transition to just saying "Queer."

I am not a member of any of the groups that would fall under that categorization though, so I may be wrong.

  • Controversial case after controversial case exposes police lies by their own bodycam, security cam, or bystander cam.

Police clearly do lie, and rarely do I read an article that involves those lies being corrected without them being forced to acknowledge them by video from a camera they don't or can't control.

Walter Scott was the first lesson I learned this way, and I could not even begin to count how many like that since then just that I personally have become aware of. (And I somehow doubt I am aware of them all)

  • So any number is OK as long as they guys giving the orders say it's necessary for victory and give lip service to trying to avoid it. Thank you for confirming.

  • That's actually a great example - my water bottle is so bright i looks like it should burn you if you touch it - and for exactly that reason. 😁

  • Fair enough. Fact remains - they are bombing hospitals (among other civilian targets) and I keep being directly or indirectly called an anti-semite for refusing to say it's OK.

  • So in other words, whatever the number of dead innocents is which might give you pause (and you aren't sure such a number even exists) it's definitely more than are being killed currently.

    Is that an accurate summary?

  • Ok that's great. Where's the evidence that's going to convince me it's OK to bomb a hospital full of sick and wounded because of what Hamas is doing in their vicinity?

  • That was my logic too. Wait until you've been doing it for decades.

(In all seriousness it's totally a personal preference, but I'm glad I stopped.)
