Germany sees new debate over possible ban of the AfD

I didn't delete anything, your instance must be slow federating.
There are no “female sex determining phenotypes”.
Having the one or other set of reproductive organs, or something in between, is a phenotype. Phenotypes are the result of genes interacting with the environment, and your genitals are, indeed, a result of that. All of you is a result of that (because you don't have any of your original cells any more).
In any case so you do seem to acknowledge complexity. Sexes, btw, as you describe them, are precisely "mating types", I mean you started out with gametes. As to the choice of organism: You baited me, you said "creature on earth". Fungi, last I checked, fit that category. Andorians have four sexes, btw.
Given that you accept all that complexity, why not the possibility of mind and body not matching up, making affected people have a rather intense desire to live their life as the gender opposite their overt phenotype?
What about the absolute deluge of studies that show that that, indeed, is a thing that happens? Why even argue this, when the science is settled? What's in it for you?
Schizophyllum commune has over 20k sexes.
As to humans: You could have googled karyotype and understood that there's things like XXY, you could have googled phenotype and understood that you can have a XY karyotype and still a female phenotype.
This is all massively more complex and diverse than you think it is I've not even scratched the tip of the iceberg here.
Sex is not “fuzzy”. There are 2 sexes, male and female. 2 gametes. 2 chromosomes.
That's not even covering karyotypes, much less phenotypes. Read up on the actual biology before making BS claims like that.
There could, in fact, not be the category of trans if there was no gender binary. Without the moon, no cis- and translunar orbits. A boundary has to exist before it is possible to cross it or, indeed, stay within it.
That boundary is a quite bit fuzzy because gender is a bimodal distribution: Two bell curves which meet in the middle. But it clearly is there, those two humps clearly exist, they may apply to no individual but they apply, statistically, to the population as a whole, and as we're individuals and not statistics where shit gets stupid is when people are saying "you're on that side of the graph in aspect X, therefore you must be on the same side in aspect Y": It's trying to enforce a strict boundary when things are, well, fuzzy. Multi-dimensional, at the very least. There's women with beards and men who can give birth. There always have been, and if that scares you then you should learn to live and let live.
Not every role within the military is a combat role. I very much doubt that people with asthma or flat feet are barred working, for example, as analyst in military intelligence. And if the military does then the military should scrounge up some actual intelligence.
The Steam store is a nightmare for discovery.
It's brilliant actually. I mean it's still arguably a shitshow, but Steam is very good at letting shovelware sink to the bottom of their algorithms.
1000xResist was an indie title that was named GOTY 2024 by a few publications, but they only just crossed 100,000 copies sold about a week ago.
Not bad for a story-focussed adventure.
Sifu sold 3m, Baba is You about half a million. The game may be brilliant, the GOTY award may be perfectly deserved, still ain't going to play it because it's not my genre. "Story-focussed adventure" is like a quarter of a step above walking simulator when it comes to ludological complexity I'd rather read a book. That's of course just me, for the general audience... well, it's niche.
Also btw young people never drove sales. The reason is simple: They're broke.
Damn hack journalists. It was popularised by Petra Kelly (page 768, 82 in pdf) founding member of the German Greens:
But when the laws of the state are in open rebellion against divine law, ... then resistance is a duty, but obedience is a crime.
...she was dishing it out with the CDU that's why she quoted a Pope, in particular Pope Leo XIII, in 1890:
- But, if the laws of the State are manifestly at variance with the divine law, containing enactments hurtful to the Church, or conveying injunctions adverse to the duties imposed by religion, or if they violate in the person of the supreme Pontiff the authority of Jesus Christ, then, truly, to resist becomes a positive duty, to obey, a crime
It then percolated through general Green-adjacent political spheres as a slogan and became "Wenn Unrecht zu Recht wird, dann wird Widerstand zur Pflicht", "When injustice becomes law, then resistance becomes duty", losing the "and obedience a crime" part. Usually attributed to Brecht, who probably wouldn't mind, totally something he'd say. "I can't eat enough for as much as I want to barf" isn't Brecht, either, it's Dürrenmatt. Actual Brecht quotes include "Who does not know the truth is just an idiot, but who knows the truth and calls it a lie is a criminal" as well as "First comes fodder, then morals". Also, movie recommendation.
The large initial percentage of female coders was due to computer having been a female job, because secretary was. Their role within companies didn't change, what changed is that they were using machines to do the computing instead of doing it by hand.
We're kinda lucky to have the woke trifecta (Ada, Grace, Alan) (first programmer (woman), inventor of compilers (woman), absolute unit (gay)) to keep the chuds at bay. Even if we weren't all socially inept nerds (or pretending to be so to bosses) there's only so much you can do, culturally, if the population is growing exponentially. Uncle Bob (yes I know he's a chud) did the maths at some point IIRC it was something like the number of programmers doubling every two years. Which also means that at any one point in time roughly 2/3rds of programmers have no idea what they're doing, which explains the javascript ecosystem.
Solve anxiety. The hatred, the desire to put down others, all that is caused by anxiety short-circuiting people's minds, acting on, put very hand-wavily, reptilian instead of higher mammalian instincts, including social ones1. Without underlying anxieties fascism has nothing to latch onto, and nothing to make even worse so it can propagate and perpetuate itself.
Key anxieties to address nowadays, and feel free to add your own, are economical security, "will I be poor in the future", as well as social alienation, "can people be trusted". Both require overcoming neoliberalism. Also, yes, solve anxieties regarding the future of the planet but that's more about saving the planet so we may continue to live on it than anti-fascism for the simple reason that eco-fascism is overall negligible as a political force.
How? First of all, stop acting from anxiety.
1 Is that where the "lizard people" thing comes from?
Well, I'm using KDE and I set up a library eight months ago and... yes there's a bug. Just checked. Not entirely the same but related to this:
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/9797
There's an official workaround mentioned there.
I guess KDE updated their portal protocol version some time in between and steam got doubly confused. Probably not a KDE bug, in particular because this kind of stuff is happening for many, many portal implementations.
And it's not a dolphin window (with me) btw it's a qt filepicker. Says "portal" at the end in the title, kde logo to the left.
If anything, more potent weed is less harmful because you are putting a smaller amount of burned plant material into your lungs to get the same effect.
Yes. The actual issue is the THC/CBD ratio, CBD being antipsychotic as well as blocking the metabolisation of THC into more psychoactive variants.
Add to that criminalisation and the desire of dealers to impress clueless customers with head highs and you get selective breeding for high-THC strains. I'd say the main reason I stopped back in the days was because there was essentially nothing but white willow on the market, ~20% THC ~1% CBD. And that's not even the worst of the strains.
Hopefully legalisation cuts back on that BS, with every satchel coming with test results showing people how off-kilter or balanced the weed is. There's certainly no shortage of CBD-heavy seeds available, the market is obviously there.
add a secondary storage device to my steam library.
You mean have more than one steam library? That's a steam setting. Nothing to do with KDE. Gnome, Debian or Fedora.
The flatpak works,
Oh. There's your issue. Don't run steam as a flatpak, there might be sandboxing issues.
EDIT: MF did you read the page you downloaded stuff from:
Note: To add a game library on another drive, first you need to grant the app access to it:
flatpak override --user --filesystem=/path/to/your/Steam/Library com.valvesoftware.Steam
People are probably running FreeDOS nowadays though which uses a different syntax.
Probably not an article about integer parsing, though. If the docs are that long, then because Microsoft does have a tendency to be overly verbose for things they think you need, just to have no docs for the stuff you actually need.
For reference here's the relevant rust docs.
I managed to shoot my windows install like half year ago by deleting the wrong stuff from my EFI partition (which is too darn small TBH) and still haven't bothered to fix it. CP77, it figures, by now runs just fine under proton.
Happens. Something like ten years ago I decided to boot into windows for the first time in a year or so and you know what happened? It installed a service pack for half an hour. Just sat there, for a year, already having downloaded the files, waiting to be booted to annoy me. I just wanted to play some Skyrim.
Depending on when and how deep your Mac experience was, it might be an easy switch. Despite its numerous failings MacOS, from OSX onwards, is a Unix. In particular a BSD, via NeXTSTEP.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principle_of_least_astonishment
...and of course JS made it into the examples, how could it not:
A programming language's standard library usually provides a function similar to the pseudocode ParseInteger(string, radix), which creates a machine-readable integer from a string of human-readable digits. The radix conventionally defaults to 10, meaning the string is interpreted as decimal (base 10). This function usually supports other bases, like binary (base 2) and octal (base 8), but only when they are specified explicitly. In a departure from this convention, JavaScript originally defaulted to base 8 for strings beginning with "0", causing developer confusion and software bugs. This was discouraged in ECMAScript 3 and dropped in ECMAScript 5.
They tried that before, the Verfassungsschutz will say, publicly, something along the lines of "Two of these 500 quotes are from our moles". That way they protect their sources, vanishing in the general soup, while the court can see that it's party sentiment, not something injected into the party by the Verfassungsschutz. Judges will be able to see the whole uncensored thing one way or the other though it might not necessarily the judges actually judging the case: There's special in camera senates in high courts for when some agency really doesn't want to show stuff. They can look at absolutely anything, and all they have to judge is "yep, it was indeed 2 of 500 quotes".
As for East Germany, would you mind stating how your thesis about the government taking an active role
If you read what I wrote, then you would know that I actually stated: a) the government didn't do that and b) it prevented civil society from doing so.
(titles of your links)
West German Government Was Full of Ex-Nazis After World War II
So in the east.
The Purge of Lawyers after the Breakdown of the East German Communist Regime
...lawyers. Gregor Gysi is a lawyer, btw.
All in all you really don't seem to be particularly knowledgeable about German history. You also don't seem to be willing to investigate what I gave you, instead falling into a partisan "But SED good therefore they are right" (unironically) and "everything is the fault of the west". Very predictable, very sad.
You saw the silent majority on the streets when that "remigration" talk leaked out of closed AfD circles: The streets were literally not big enough to contain them. 70% oppose any other party going in coalition with them (unsurprisingly, the rest are AfD, BSW, or FDP voters), about half want to see them banned, which is a question more nuanced than "I want them gone".
I guess that after a ban, the BSW could gobble up most of that support for them. And while Wagenknecht is a clown and at least veering towards Nazbol she's far less of a danger to democracy.
