  • A lot of people dont use an app at all, much less third party apps, so the whole thing was lost on them to begin with, if they were even aware of it.

  • Well I won't really argue with that. But, which wing of which party is actually trying to use the powers of Congress to fight back against things like Citizens United? If we can all rise up and get more of them in Congress, then we can expect to see a shift away from the oligarchs.

  • And for those that say go for a third party, it is far easier to remake the Democratic party, an existing party with an existing infrastructure, than it is to convince people to vote for a third party that is either new or has existed for a while and never been successful. The green party, the PLS, are distractions. Put that effort into changing the democratic party.

By my quick scanning of this page there’s are <45 members of state legislatures around the country, out of >7,500 total state legislators. And 2 out of 535 US Congress members.

  • They don’t say “this is worse”, most of them I engage with say it’s the same as Biden/Harris had planned, the rest try to twist reality to say it’s somehow better.

That has been my experience, too.

  • Schrödinger's Ceasefire: simultaneously Trump's win for getting it signed and Biden's fault for neither side maintaining it.

  • That's what I'm thinking regarding the locations the law suits are being filed in. Traditionally (I know, didn't matter with Roe) one predictor if SCOTUS will take an appeal is if there are conflicting rulings being made in different states/districts.

  • So I guess they're targeting lawsuits in multiple federal districts, in hopes that having consistent rulings across the districts will appeal to the SCOTUS thin concern of legitimacy and they'll either refuse an appeal or uphold the lower court rulings against Trump?

  • A "trust fund baby" is someone who was born rich. It also generally contacted an over-inflater sense of accomplishment and worth. People like like Elon Musk and Donald Trump.

  • But that still just creates a new Pixelfed account which trusts the Mastodon account identity, and it must be followed separatel from the Mastodon account. And you can't enable the SSO between existing accounts, and there's no account migration on Pixelfed.

  • but I think the assumption that you'd centralize multiple AP services in a single app now feels entirely obsolete

It's not that I want a single app, it's that I want a single account with all my posts/data even though I'm using different apps. I don't want to have to have so many duplicate follows across all the different fediverse apps.

  • primary these centrist lead weights.

    This. Right. Here.

  • Pinkman: You don't want a criminal lawyer, you want a criminal lawyer.

  • which makes him one of the best candidates.

    Exactly

  • Jon Stewart, Al Franklin, Bill Burr. Any body like that.

  • Pixelfed briefly had ability to show posts that don't have a picture attachment. I couldn't find any reason why the feature went away.

  • But leftists are unpopular among voters and consistently lose elections.

I don't think that's accurate. I think progressive voters don't show up for the primaries so we don't get enough progressive candidates on the ballot. The primaries are where the party platform is shifted. It's how the Republicans got first the Tea Party and then MAGA.
