@clif Linux Mint is a popular migration destination because of how close its UI is to Winlol, but KDE is a close UI too to winlol's, as for the software, if possible, one can use Wine or a VM until they get used to native Linux tools, with a little research, one can easily find a good alternative to almost anything
@clif@BCsven are you implying that Linux is not compatible with most things on winlol? I've yet to find anything that I need and is winlol only, everything either has a version on Linux or has a Linux-able alternative
There are many winlol-only things but none I need
For gaming, Linux
For office use, Linux
For media, definitely Linux...
@cm0002 eh, does that mean I can't anymore tweak my Lumia? Fuck (yes I still have a Lumia, even many years after their death, it is still my best phone, android can't compete, an android, and I mean all of them, lags like hell on 2Gb RAM, the Lumia runs super smoothly with 1 Gb RAM)
@AndrewZabar using EndeavourOS, for example, searching how to install the Nvidia drivers, you can find old results such as installing nvidia-dkms.... yay -S nvidia-dkms, that could have been useful 3 years ago but now it breaks the display, you should instead yay -S nvidia-inst && nvidia-inst & everything will work perfectly
@Zozano@LostMyMind so I lose much much time researching and since they were pirated games, support was poor so I even searched the dark web (not the dark dark web but I call the dark web the 3rd+ page of google)
@Zozano@LostMyMind
seriously, I have been gaming for more than 30 years and if you want me to swear I'll swear, for 25 years I have been gaming pirated games, on the V1.0.0 of a random game, the save file is located on My DocumentsMy Saved Files, then after installing the update 1.1.0 the saved progress is gone, after much research, I find it under my docsthe game name, then after 1.2.0, I find it under App Datalocal... and so on and every time the pseudo changes+ the path
@possiblylinux127@iopq
in reality, gaming on Linux became since a long time way better than on winlol, and Mesa & CodeWeavers are actively working to make it better every day, the problem comes from developers, mainly kernel-level anticheat, according to members on the fediverse or one of the communities I follow on fb, it all comes down to a simple checkbox if you want the game to allow running on Linux or nay, so the blame falls down to stupid devs not the OS
@mesamunefire@themadcodger in tunisia at least, the number one way to play games is:-through piracy (I hate piracy but if you are born in tunisia then it is very very hard to pay for anything virtual like games) -via launchers like Battle.net for HS -via custom .exe like for Project Celeste.. in short Steam is not the only way to get games, Steam OS and by consequence the Steamdeck is not even officialy on sale in tunisia anywhere and going to desktop mode requires intellect which is not common
