  • I already have PipeWire and did try a few things with config to no avail. The crackling also only happens with CD audio, took me weeks to even notice this was an issue. Thanks for the suggestion though.

  • Thanks! I'll look into it.

  • You can't beat a well boiled cup of quality (loose) tea! Fuck the Dew!

  • Doesn't matter, they are both deprecated.

  • Well, some specs as to what kind of hardware you have, and what kind of software you intend to use (browsing, gaming, editing, what ever). Maybe a word on what kind of desktop experience you are looking for (Windows, Mac, something else). Do you absolutely need the latest versions of software. Tell us what you need from your OS.

  • You didn't give much info to go on, so maybe try Distrochooser. Honestly, most distros should work out fine. If you like Ubuntu, maybe try Mint.

  • Well that's nice. Games industry is not known for treating it's employees fairly. Or even humanely. I don't know what the situation is in Poland, but I hope this is a positive development for them.

  • How many time does Canonical have to do sketchy shit before people catch on? Seriously.

  • See this: Fonts look terrible

The linked workaround solved this for me but only partially. If you look further in the thread this may be fixed soon anyway.

  • You know, distrohopping is overrated. If your distro works for you now, you don't really need to switch. Other distros may have slight differences, but all in all it usually is just changing some problem for another. Most distros will be fine.

Having said that, I think Debian Unstable ticks your boxes. Most rolling releases will do what you want.

  • I wonder if they'll ever ditch Ubuntu and release a version based on Debian Sid.

  • Really unfortunate. He looks rough. May his days be long yet.

  • Oh cool, been waiting for this announcement. Nice.

  • And you'll be primed for all the telemetry Fedora doesn't want you to opt out of. Coming soon.

  • Well, fuck the trees then, I guess.

  • Can't go wrong with Debian on servers. Stable, secure and long term support. Very minimal install also.

Maybe also look into Alpine. It might be a bit lighter, if that's an issue.

  • I use Plasma with Breeze Dark theme and icons and adwaita cursors. Boring but works for me.

  • I pay 1 euro a month for e-mail that I think is secure enough. I think that's it at present.
