  • About to shave my beard off for the first time in years, being sick has made it go all weird and brittle and it's massively irritating my skin so it's got to go. At least I can't go anywhere so no one has see me without it since it'll grow semi back by the end of the week.

  • I've had both of those authors recommended to me before. I've been looking for my next read since I didn't line anything up after an indugent reread of Phillip Pullmans' series, so maybe I might make a start with those. In saying that I have a sneaky suspicion that I read The Latchkey Kid by Forrester many moons ago.

  • Yes!! All of those are so good, espcially Lark Rise and ACGAS (both versions, although the new one kinda wins out by a little because I love Anna Madeley, Samuel West, and Callum Woodhouse) just so fkn cosy, they make me feel all warm and toasty inside.

You've probably seen it, but The Durrells is 10/10 period drama, everything about it is excellent!

  • Yes! I originally tuned in for Maxine Peake but soon found myself really sucked into it. Sort of reminded me of Home Fires which was brilliant (still mad they cancelled it)!

  • Kinda wanky but I've been watching lots of POV hiking vids which has semi helped.

  • Awww this is so sweet, thank you! But apart from being bed ridden I am also on a completely liquid/puree diet, covid decided to decimate every inch of me in retaliation for missing it for so long, and as a result my mouth is a giant ulcer fest.

  • Oh, I am still very much visibly and physically sick, and would not have a good time if I left my bed. But just having the option to make my own food and leave my bedroom if I wanted to would be nice.

  • No idea why I thought it'd be different, but I did my 7 day covid retest and it was instantly positive, like the minute the liquid hit the little thingy.

Really just want the contagious window to end so I can start taking care of myself and leave my bedroom, seven days is a long time to be stuck in a shoebox of a bedroom, even if I can't do much with myself.

  • The Bicentennial Trail is super interesting, as someone who has driven to Cooktown (and beyond) from Melbourne the thought of walking there is absolutely insane. You'd definitely experience some insane weather and landscape changes.

The Pacific Crest is the dream, the cost and prep makes my eyes fall out my skull though.

  • Both are on my bucket list! There's also the Larapinta Trail which I think can take about a month. I honestly don't think I could deal with the constant heat of hiking through Central Australia.

  • Probably not straight away, but very much as soon as the long covid risk is gone absolutely!

  • Being hulled up in my room unable to move has had me homesick for the outdoors for the last couple of days, so I've been watching someone hike the Appalacian Trail in the US and its so soothing. Also really wish we had more stuff like that here, I mean we have some long hikes but nothing like some of the ones they have over there.

  • Mother has advise she will be stopping by to drop off some things and to make sure I am still alive. Not going to lie even if I can only stare at her from a distance I think it will be nice for my brain.

Also on a high note, I opened my curtains a little bit today for the first time since Sunday and have cracked the window for a little fresh air. Still feel disgusting, and it appears my immune system is non-existent as I break out in all sorts of things, but at least I have some freshness coming at me.

  • Thought I'd give the housemate a break from making my meals since I still can't touch any shared spaces, so I ordered some lunch with enough leftovers for tea and jesus fkn christ it's highway robbery out there.

  • Yeah, by some crazy turn of events the housemate has not caught it, so they are playing nurse maid. We are also super lucky our house is designed in a way that allows us to completely quarantine from one another, including only them being able to access the kitchen.

  • This covid shit is no fkn joke, it's absolutely gutted me, its kind of scary. The fatigue is also something I've never felt before, I'm awake for 30mins tops, and then I'm out again until I wake myself from sweating through everything.

  • Well after all this time, I have caught covid. I'm sooooo fkn sick it's insane, if my teeth aren't chattering with the fever I'm just crying.

  • Embracing my bogan roots and filling up a $20 blow up pool to escape the heat in.

  • Not only do I have a big old coldsore, I also slipped twice this morning while trimming my beard... I will be in the very very back of the Christmas photos hiding my shame.
