  • Used to be that BMWs were driven by the worst (asshole) drivers on the road. In the past year, my wife (first) and I have noticed that that crown now lies firmly on the head of Tesla drivers… and it’s not even close.

  • It uses the Nvidia Tegra 239 chip, which is based off the Ampere generation. While potentially it could have some ray tracing features, the power limits of a small chip like this are likely to prevent it from being used.

More interestingly, it should have all the hardware and juice to be able to run DLSS. This means it can upscale from 720p to 4k using Nvidia’s proprietary tech (the best in the business) to have excellent image quality at fast frame rates.

Other than the Nvidia specific tech, it’s just generally a faster processor with more memory. While it won’t be as powerful as a PS5, graphics should look nicer and world size and detail should increase with fewer compromises.

  • Doesn’t this just mean that now we can make models 20x more complex using the same hardware? There’s many more problems that advanced Deep Learning models could potentially solve that are far more interesting and useful than a chat bot.

I don’t see how this ends up bad for Nvidia in the long run.

  • I think Nintendo first party games are great. And I certainly don’t think they’re losing money… the Switch has the most global sales of any current console by a lot. In fact, the PS2 is the only non-Nintendo console to have sold more.

  • What about non steam games? Maybe I’m in the extreme minority, but my most played games are things like Microsoft Flight Sim, DCS, Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous, which not only have their own launchers etc (one of which is tied directly to MS), they also require peripherals… sometimes lots of em, that have config and/or telemetry software that is all built in windows.

  • Well that’s just crazy. I wash mine with soap and water after cooking… but then I give it a quick flame dry and re-season on the stove top, which I can definitely admit is more maintenance than most people want to deal with.

  • What are you talking about? There were a lot more cuts to the Bipartisan funding bill, outside of the proposed debt ceiling increase. Looks like the Republicans still get all the cuts they wanted, just no debt limit increase. This is definitely being celebrated as a win on their side.

Absent were provisions that had infuriated Trump and his right-wing allies, including cost-of-living increases for lawmakers and giving Washington, D.C., control over a stadium site that could be used for the Washington Commanders NFL team. The legislation also excluded health care provisions to overhaul laws around pharmacy benefit managers, or PBMs, that were agreed to in the previous deal.
