  • People need to understand a few things, which seem to need to be repeated every time the US media chooses to cover something Hamas did, while failing to cover the atrocities carried out against Palestinians by the Israeli state.

1: you can be pro-Palestinian without being pro-Hamas

2: you can be anti-Israel without being antisemitic

  • I worked for as a software engineer for a company that I did interviews for. We were told that “pet projects” were a red flag unless they were a current college student. They showed a lack of commitment to their current employer. Basically, there’s no reason for them to have a side project, they should be working more for their current boss.

I left that company shortly after.

  • My point is, it shouldn’t be Biden inserting himself into what should have been a conversation between the union and the railroad. He forced the union’s hand and then said “trust me”. I want you to imagine a world where a politician forced a company to accept a union’s offer and then told the company to “trust them”.

As if an American politician would ever force a company to accept a union’s (very reasonable, FWIW) offer.

  • He forced them back to work before their demands could be met. That is a fail. He may have gotten something after the fact, but that doesn’t change that he forced workers back to work instead of striking. What if he wasn’t able to get that done?

FWIW, rail workers were asking for 7 sick days a year. 7. And Biden got them 5 with the ability to convert 2 personal days to sick days. As a note, even 7 is a ridiculously low number.

He should have sided with unions then, too. The only reason he’s doing this is because Republicans are saying that the UAW is being damaged by Biden’s policies.

  • Here in lies the issue: define “kids”

Most people use it as “young children” and not “teenagers”. So I agree that 3rd graders shouldn’t be reading it, but if you think most high schoolers aren’t at least familiar with BSDM, you’re pretty naive. I teach middle school and some of these students have gotten into stuff that still shocks me.

  • This is highly dependent on what age of students you teach. Elementary teachers get thanked by parents. High school teachers get thanked by graduating students. Middle school teachers…well, not so much.

How about flooding a meta thread that’s not on their own instance to insult people who disagree with them?

Part of the drama with that incident included hexbear folks straight up saying “I thought the whole point of federating with other instances was so that we could dunk on liberals”. Majority of folks on hexbear did not see any issues with the behavior of their members on this post.
