Fits very well. Completely wrong, but definitely something that one could come up with in the shower.

The fediverse needs a non-political, non-US instance that blocks political communities from other servers. Otherwise people who don't want politics have to spend time curating their experience and can never actually escape it, because some douche will start spouting "OMG LOOK AT THIS POLITICIAN!" in communities about superb owls or something.

The biggest kickstarter goal I know of was the Ubuntu Edge (a linux smartphone) was 30 million and they got 12 million.

Look at the list of most successful kickstarters. There are projects with goals of 1M (books), 100k(table top game), 950k (video game console), and many more. 100k isn't the world when talking about software like this.

That's good news. I imagine it will diminish quickly unless the story about TikTok is kept alive. The news cycle is mostly 1-2 weeks. Hopefully it'll have reached 100k by then.

That's not huge. One year of employment is nothing for such a product.

Should've set the goal at 100k for fulltime employment. These kinds of projects need that kind of dedication

We need an instance that prohibits news about anything coming out of the USA. I'd sign up in an instant. It's the noisiest and most annoying place on the internet.

Maybe in the coming 4 years people will finally understand why handing over everything to corps isn't great. Whether they'll do anything with that understanding is questionable though. The amount of "but it's so easy" and "I'm just one person" doomerism is fantastic.

Why do phones have so many cameras? What for?

It's amazing how US divisive culture is just swapping over to other countries. Now the radicals are trying to push that being in the middle is an issue. Imagine that: being able to not demonize everybody and everything that doesn't belong to your tribe is now worth ridicule in the US.

Young people aged 14 and over are granted a certain amount of sexual maturity and personal responsibility. Therefore, young people aged 14 and 15 are allowed to have sex with each other. Of course, this only applies if both people voluntarily consent.

However, it is forbidden for adults or young people aged 16 and over to have sex with young people under the age of 16 if the older person is entrusted with the education, training or care of the young person under the age of 16.

I'm disagreeing with the legal gross thing, I'm saying you are highly influenced by a US perspective that isn't morally superior to anything. Also, I'm not offended, you seem to be since you're the one repeatedly saying "gross" like a little child. If you cannot be reasoned with and will just be "grossed out" by it, well then, there's nothing more to say.

Does everything have to be prefixed with "I believe" then? That's an easy fix.

By that logic, 18 year olds shouldn't drive, own a gun, enter the military, bear children, and many because they are in danger of killing themselves and others. Why are you not drawing the line at all those things but dating older men? Dating older men is more dangerous than the military? Than driving? That choosing the wrong profession?

Would you not be evoking the "boy cries wolf" scenario? With absolute free speech, there's no deterrent to a willingful false alarm. Anybody could scream "bomb" or "fire" and maybe the first 3 times there'd be a response, but do you think there should always be a response? If so, wouldn't pulling away security personnel from the posts reduce security in that specific area? And if not, what do you expect should happen when someone sees an actual bomb and how would their notification be discerned from a fake one without checking it out?

I'm not convinced that because it's bad now that it can't get worse.

That's talking from a western and probably highly US-influenced perspective. Most westerners will probably find it OK if a 35 yo woman dates an 18 yo man, but the other way around it's "gross".

If we're fine with 18 year olds making decisions like enlisting in the army, why are we grossed out by them dating people double their age?

I have stuff and money. But stuff and money is a power imbalance. An intimate relationship with someone so young would feel closer to a lengthy time with a naive hooker more than anything.

That's great for you, not all 18 year olds are naive hookers.

Waste of talent - unless it's really what they want to do, then that's fine.
