  • Israel has been surveilling information provided to the United States by the Palestinian Authority regarding settler violence in the occupied West Bank in recent months [...] in order to “understand what the U.S. knows about settler violence.” [...] ”the political-diplomatic echelon in Israel views the increasing international preoccupation with settler violence as “political pressure,” and is therefore trying to prove that the scope of the phenomenon is not as broad as the Americans claim. That’s why, the source said, “we’re working to help refute these allegations, or prevent them from developing into sanctions. The political echelon is concerned that all kinds of international moves will be taken that will force Israel to deal with this issue.”

So they don't care about the violence and damage they inflict on everyone around them, just that a comparative handful of Israelis might not be able to travel or use US banks.

  • Texas-based True the Vote filed complaints [...] including one in which it said it had obtained “a detailed account of coordinated efforts to collect and deposit ballots in drop boxes across metro Atlanta” [...] When pressed to provide names of sources and other documentation, the group last year tried to withdraw its complaint. [When that was denied] attorneys for True the Vote said the group had no names or other documentary evidence to share.

So they fucking lied, tried to wriggle out of it when they were called out, and now they've admitted they have nothing? Fuckers need to be in prison, be permanently banned from anything to do with elections and politics, and have their own right to vote revoked.

  • the plan calls for displaced Palestinians to be “concentrated in the western area of the enclave, within the coastal strip,” along the sea. [..] Israel says it will establish 15 camp villages along the coast between Rafah and Gaza City in central Gaza.

    Concentrated in camps, you say?

Each camp will be equipped with 25,000 tents. Egyptian officials say that Israel expects the camps, which would include medical facilities, to be funded by the US and Arab states.

So Israel just expects to blow everything to shit and have everyone else pay for it?

If Palestinians in Gaza are increasingly concentrated in tent camps along a tiny strip on Gaza’s coast, with no homes to return to, no functioning hospitals, and little food and humanitarian aid, this will enable Israel’s efforts to force Gaza’s population to 'voluntarily' flee to Egypt by land or other third parties by sea. Israeli leaders have stated they wish to make life so difficult and dangerous for Palestinians in Gaza that the most humanitarian solution for them will be to leave Gaza and allow Israel to take it over for Jewish settlement.

    Fuck you, Israel.

  • If you're going to post a MBFC promoting the factuality of a paper, you should also include other relevant information to allow people to make a fully-formed opinion. And if this article had been about, I dunno, salmon season in Alaska, I wouldn't have brought it up. But the fact that Jewish Press is intensely pro-Israel and rabidly anti-Palestinian is very relevant to any content about the war.

  • Translation: we murdered many of the most vulnerable, have already written off those that managed to evade the orphan-crushing machine, and don't give a shit about the tens of thousands of Americans that become vulnerable every day.

  • The fuck are they going to go? Israel's made so much of Gaza uninhabitable, they are running out of or have already run out of food, water, electricity and gasoline, disease is running rampant and there's little medical treatment available. The fuck can they go?

  • It's also a very Jewish district. A lot of pro-Israeli Jews are concerned about the "left wing" of the Democratic party not supporting Israel's genocide, and the Republicans were running an incredibly pro-Israel candidate. The combination of events made this race a lot closer than it might otherwise have been.

  • I think the gig economy and the pandemic both had a hand in this as well. The pandemic set things up for curbside pickup and increased the number of people using things like Instacart, and a lot of people who switched to that have stayed on them. But both curbside pickup and Instacart-style services need a convenient way for the collector of goods to get that stuff to the purchaser, so they're going to buy bags for their deliveree. And the deliveree is going to end up with stacks and stacks of reusable bags that they're never going to reuse (because they order pickup or delivery). They try to donate them but a lot of places don't take them, so they end up in the trash.

  • Are you referring to video from early in the war, where Hamas brought in two hostages who it turned out were wounded and Hamas was trying to get them treated? Because Israel was using that video as "proof" that Hamas was using that hospital as a "base", which is just fucked up in so many ways.

  • There were landowners who were abusive to their tenant farmers, or her dad could even have grown up in a sharecropper family. You know what eventually ended sharecropping and tenant farmers? FDR's New Deal. She should study history more.
