  • its a vaguely progressive/leftist former shitposting subreddit with a very large lgbtq+ and ally prescence. the only rule is that you have to post before leaving browsing it. a sort of unofficial rule is that every post must have 'rule' in it. As for the name, no clue.

just looked it up, apparently the community used to be r/195 but it got shut down and then it became r/196. i could find signifigantly less about why r/195 had its same, all i found was this one post saying it was someone's apartment number, so essentially its basically random.

  • IMO voting definitely had its uses, having a guage of whether people do/dont like stuff can be nice. and for seeing content, there are multiple different feed types, i assume only the top sorting is the only one to exclusively use votes, idk how hot/active work but it seems like active cares more about comments and overall interaction and hot is more about votes?

  • is google a part of the actual development on firefox tho? It would only by distributed by google play on a google phone im pretty sure, on my laptop I downloaded and installed it directly from their website, and use ublock origin on both my computer and phone to limit tracking and ads. for me specifically google messing with youtube adblocking and such is less of an issue because my phone is mostly google anyways unfortunately, plus i have a youtube premium subscription becuase i dont think theres a way to block ads on the phone app and i also like youtube music.

  • Tbh the main reason I posted was because wefwef has basically the exact same UI as Apollo and was made by the same developer. Also apparently it's changing it's name to Voyager as I learned from other comments on this post

  • Yeah same here, I used the official app (disgusting I know) because I didn't mind it that much and also am on Android, but I really like wefwef/voyager. Only complaint is I don't particularly like the apple aesthetic but I've heard there will be an option to change that soon

  • Windows 10 + linux mint dual booted on my desktop which is my current main, but I have windows 11 on my laptop that will become my main computer because college. Unfortunately windows 11 is required, i dont even know if stuff like solidworks that i will have to use would run on linux. I am also just more used to windows in general

  • I wonder if making a separate bug-reporting place and having some people sort them to lessen the load might be helpful. Im a very newbie programmer and know nothing in rust but still want to help out, and sorting through bugreports seems like something that might be helpful, and need minimal rust experience, just sorting individual requests into piles of same problems to lessen the sorting needing to be done by those who can actually work on fixing the bugs.

  • yeah the thing about body and personality problems in men is that it is much more driven by other men and not as much by what women actually want. it is still very much an issue, just different than how similar problems in women are usually characterized.

  • you can absolutely look around, if you couldnt it wouldnt feel as real as real as it does. most of your regular field of view works as normal, for the most part you just use your eyes and head completely normally. it is a lot harder to look at things close up properly, not sure if its from problems with how its displayed or the screen or what though, its just my personal experience.
