  • although you would be signifigantly safer on this side of activitypub though, if you install the app they get WAY more device info from you than is transferred over activitypub, which is only what is absolutely needed as far as i understand it, meaning no info on your device itself.

  • I agree, i dont think there is too much harm in federating for a little while but being very cautious and watching their actions. It seems like a waste to potentially throw away all the interaction from all those 'normie' users who would have otherwise had no interaction with the fediverse or see what its like.

  • I would argue the opposite about the incentive for 'normies' to come here. we can already see that WAY more people are perfectly fine with using threads and other platforms from these companies. If we federate now, then all the content and community generated on our side of the fediverse will be able to be seen by a LOT more people, they will then get used to seeing it and then when it gets cut off when meta forks and defederates themselves, people will move over.

A potential compromise that may or may not be possible depending on how stuff works on the back end is barring Threads users from posting or commenting to limit the amout of advertising, spam, and potential hate, but still letting them see us. It might also cause threads to defederate from us before that potentially. also maybe federating as normal for a few months and then cutting posting and commenting later, or if the load from threads gets to be too much on the lemmy servers.

  • It usually is fairly obvious, but not a lightbulb moment. Sometimes especially hard to tell with non-amphetamines if they take a while to kick in like mine did, but amphetamines should be fairly easy to tell. I do know that everyone works differently, so if upping the dose again doesn't work you might want to try something different such as Adderall, or a non-amphetamine and see if it works better. It's not going to magically fully solve everything, you still gotta put work in (especially for executive dysfunction problems) but it should help a lot with focus, at least thats how it is for me.

Another thing is to maybe ask your doctor how best to take a short break to see how you feel on nothing vs the full dose closer together while paying more attention because slowly ramping up may make it hard to tell.

Btw, I'm on Quelbree (I think that's how to spell it) and it works ok for me, tbh I probably need to up the dose as well tho.

  • That might be it, especially seeing as they use the same domain of .ml but as I don't see why it would matter, because of the nature of it if they ever do bad things people can just leave/defederate or even fork the code. I dont care to go verify if it is the same ip (I'd have to figure out how first) and it doesnt really matter to me

  • I can understand why they might say 'its too complicated' but why tankies? I saw what appeared to be a fairly large tankie instance (lemmygrad.ml) but beyond that I wouldn't expect there to be an undue presence. And they are certainly tons of tankies over on Reddit too so...
