Yeah sorry I genuinely don't understand the people saying call 911 as some form of protest or help for the victim like the cops aren't gonna show up to support the white dudes totallyinsisting they should be there. The best you accomplish is making a dispatchers job more difficult and they are the real first responders, worst is clogging lines for an actual emergency.
I kinda feel like I'm taking crazy pills*
I'm seeing examples of dictatorship left and right, six months after taking office, and mostly all I really see are jokes and team cheering or jeering.
A journalist was fired for speaking against a person in political power. Not only that, the offense was just calling someone hateful. Meanwhile slurs and hateful dehumanizing names and actual made up diagnosis are used to put down anyone critical of anyone in the current administration that is currently in Trump's good graces.
*I'm aware that we are humans giving knee jerk reactions, and often these posts are a form of stress relief. It doesn't stop me from feeling like Chicken Little
I also just wanna add this journalist has some fantastic writing skills and damn now I wanna look up his entire career. I hope someone snatches him up and I'm really proud and heartened to see a public figure face the consequences of standing up to fascism and still hold their head high. To publicly say they stand by their statements and not apologize.
I'm not mad at this at all
I'm thrilled a politician is actually fighting back. He has a history of standing up against trump and the gop status quo
That said this is the first time there is any bite to it and the cynic/realist in me is saying it's cause he is gearing up for presidential nomination and election. I really hope he is not the Democrat choice.
if the good wife/fight taught me anything the democrats already have someone picked out and priming public for it
I just wish we had Bernie i wanna see that timline :'(
Weird I didn't see the second half of your comment when I first replied. You're absolutely right and I'm terrified. The social-political environment and economy that allowed the rise of the nazis in Germany have been happening in America for decades. There are so many parallels and then within 6 months in office a LOT of big stuff is happening really fast. Federal institutions completely gutted, harassment of the employees by their government, deportation of citizens, removing birthright citizenship, and now wanting a medical diagnosis for anyone who disagrees with them.
It is absolutely terrifying and I no longer feel safe sharing my opinion anywhere because I don't know how dangerous it will be in the future.
It also silences their voices and discredits anything they say so opposition don't gain more support as the GOP dismantle our democracy in front of our eyes.
They are getting away with much bigger atrocities than this. People will absolutely be on board to suddenly have their trump-hating relative actually be mentally ill. Then you don't have to listen to anything they say because they are just crazy.
Even announcing trump derangement syndrome in an official setting so it can be in the news cycle for as long as they want is going to have a powerful impact on the personal, individual level much wider than what he has done this term so far really. Now anyone who disagrees with trump is crazy. That's just best case scenario.
In this case the article is all about multiple people who faced suicidal ideation. Who they themselves attribute to all this doge bs. It isn't just job loss, or the fear and stress of it, but the job itself as well.
The article covers multiple industries and sources. It is a fantastic article so I urge you to read it
It's funny cuz it's woke
