  • At this point Taiwan has been independent for a good long time so it’s probably time to recognize that. This comes down to what the people in Taiwan want. I’m guessing they are good with the current situation as it keeps tensions down but sooner or later they are going to have to make a hard choice and the US needs to back them on it. Either they vote for reunification (unlikely but you never know) or they unequivocally identify as not-China and completely independent. In the second case the US and world should be prepared to back Taiwan. What will actually happen? Well, if I were Taiwan, I wouldn’t want to piss of a neighbor like that who is likely to go psycho when you officially breakup. It’s like ripping off a bandaid. I would be terrified of what China will do no matter who is baking me up. Taiwan will have to make a choice sooner or later but I completely understand their hesitation.

  • Yeah that was the post I was talking about. Their big claim was that the combination of an electric motor close to the hub and the in-hub gears is the key to it all. To your point though, I won’t purchase the first few years of cars that have that as I am sure there will be initial issues that they need to work out. I’m just excited that there are some new approaches being pushed. I got super excited 20 years ago for rotary engines from Mazda and that never took off the way I thought it would. I figured those would be the basis for electric hybrids so what do I know.

  • The construction worker shall become one with the machine. It’s body shall be the excavator and it shall want for nothing more. Imagine smart bulldozers powered by a human consciousness that turn on their controllers and rise up. I shall lead the resistance as a smart golf cart.

  • Hyundai looks like they are innovating these days. This is pretty cool and they have that CV drive shaft replacement tech they are pushing as well. Maybe they are just better at getting the word out but it looks like they are making more progress currently than other makers

  • I got a Rocky Linux shirt directly from them. I didn’t think the shirt material was great as it was that kinda rough cotton but happy I was able to support. If anyone from Rocky Linux reads this, I’d buy another shirt if it was softer!

  • Venezuela borders Guyana to the west and the Essequibo river is in the east of the country. From what I can tell Venezuela is looking to take over Guyana. I am struggling to understand what they are thinking here. This will not end well for them. I imagine Brazil ain’t gonna tolerate that shit either.

  • Out of every esports event that could face issues I did not think anyone would be crazy angry about Nintendo. Did someone get blueshelled too many times in Mario Kart? I mean, what would drive people to get intense about Nintendo?

  • I’ve got an almost 10 year old base model Wrangler…I don’t even have power windows. It couldn’t harvest data if it wanted to. Didn’t even splurge for the automatic transmission. Probably one of the last truly dumb vehicles in the US.

  • Yeah I mean the alternative is to just abandon your plans for home ownership altogether. One of my neighbors is in real estate and says people are buying now and hoping the rates come down soon so they can refinance at a lower rate and drop the payment. It’s pretty dangerous since buyers are super stretched until they can refinance and it’s not even close to a guarantee that they will actually be able to get a lower rate anytime soon.
