I’m always amazed by how the store near (Canada) me is always full. I don’t know I people are there to buy merch or what, but they’re never empty.

Why screw drivers and drills? Silver tape is more than enough.

It’s not panic. We already have direct connects to AWS and Azure. It’s something we’ve been working on for five years now.

My job estimated our VMware cost will be 10 times more expensive. We’re moving to the cloud as soon as possible.

Hey! Friday I went to a place in Montreal that has a working Dr Who table. Montreal Pinball Arcade

It’s actually a store that sells and rents the tables. Some days they open up to everyone, you pay a few bucks for unlimited play.

That feels like the hotel from John Wick series.

A person, typically poor asks you for help. They present a lottery ticket and they don’t know what to do or say they can’t collect. Normally another person arrives to “help”. You three go check the ticket and it’s a winner, but you don’t notice that it’s not the same week, the ticket is not valid. They want to sell the ticket to you for any kind of money or even jewelry. So, it takes two crooks for the scam to work, they and you.

That reminds me of the lottery ticket scam. I know a person who fell for it.

When you see “Net weight” or a symbol that looks like a big minuscule “e”, it means that the package weight doesn’t count.

So, let me tell a little story from a couple of months ago. We were migrating a big system and we discovered that it was still sending fax to some destinations. We still have a fax server running. The way it works is that we send an email to

<faxnumber>

So, we contacted the destinations and some declared that they didn't even had faxes anymore. BUT, a few others still had them and, what a surprise, it was a fax server that would receive the fax... and transform it in an email!

Of course, we changed those services and retired the fax server.

I’m not talking about autopilot. It’s your job, as it is today, to reduce your speed BEFORE the limit change.

Technologically speaking, easy.

A - system turns off

B - new speed becomes the current limit

C - reported/ticket/vehicle is disabled.

What about in an emergency? What is someone needs to go over that limit for evasive maneuvers or something?

(Technologically speaking) Do it. Since we’re talking communication and electronics, you’ll be automatically reported. Present your excuse and let’s see what happens.

(I’m not saying that I’m in favour of this.)

Oh, and I’ve driven a car with speed limiter. It’s like cruise control, but it doesn’t let you go above the speed you choose. It was an amazing experience, I loved it. You press the accelerator, you get to that speed and it stays there. You feel a resistance on the pedal. If you want, simply force the pedal a bit more. It will turn the controller off and let you drive faster.
