  • But only the data that is explicitly intended to be public. There's no single entity installing invasive apps or logging your traffic through partner network sites.

Facebook had half the internet using your Facebook login as authentication at one point

  • edit: the split reception on this extremely mild take about political news coverage is about all you need to know about the knife's edge lemmy.world is sitting on.

I had to go out and look for this video, because the link either doesn't have it or my adblock got it, but honestly this seems like a pretty normal interview for him. I'd say this is about on-par with his interviews with people like Aiden Ross or other podcasts he's probably unfamiliar with - he seems bored and a little unsure of his audience, but not, like, falling asleep or anything.

Idk. He seems maybe a little tired? But I wouldn't say he ended the interview that abruptly, and Bongino seems bummed but not confused like they say in the article.

I only mention it because i've seen a couple headlines like this in the last few days, and i'm getting the impression that it's not as much of a story as they're making it out to be. Maybe they're trying to goad him into another debate or more public appearances?

I don't know. He's not anywhere near the level Biden was at the peak of calls for him stepping down - and even then, most democrats still dismissed it as over-exaggerated. It certainly cheapens and makes me doubt other claims of ill-health or un-fitness.

  • I don't think an apology is warranted when it's apparent a claim is being made as a bad-faith deflection.

Even if you had made a compelling case for your use of the word (you still haven't), it's still in response to someone pointing to a genocide that's already happening. You could've just said 'Houthis are evil because they are using child soldiers' and we wouldn't have anything to talk about (except maybe a debate over whether that changes the ethics of a US-Saudi backed genocide against them), but instead you said "Houthis are using child soldiers", then "Killing children is a form of genocide", and then chose not to elaborate any further, even when pressed.

"It really seems like it to me" is about as satirical as dwight type-casting an italian-american as a mobster.

  • So your point about them using child soldiers is unrelated to your claim that they're "killing children in large numbers"?

Seemed like you were conflating the two, maybe I got that wrong.

When you casually drop 'genocide' into a conversation without elaborating on who or what you're talking about you're likely to cause some confusion.

  • I am comparing your use of the word 'genocide' to describe a rebel group because they use under-18 soldiers to dwight accusing a pushy italian-american insurance salesman of being in the mob because he drives an suv.

Not as funny when it needs to be explained, though.

  • Well you are responding to the article I posted, so it does have something to do with me....?

Not sure what inspired the hostility, I was agreeing with you, but to each his own I guess.

edit: lmao, you must have a fan, because someone definitely is downvoting you immediately but it aint me

  • Not really quoting myself, more quoting what I think is the most reasonable response to the question for anyone.

OP was asking others in the thread the same question, and I think it's a bad-faith way to deflect the conversation and turn it personal.

  • If they can’t achieve that, then moderates are right.

I'm curious if you're one of those people who think our electoral system needs to be reformed, and how that opinion squares with this essentialist perspective of electoral outcomes
